Doesn't Jodie Foster Look Totally Out of Place In This?

Not that I think actors should be typecast, but this kind of family fantasy adventure movie just isn't her thing. She was created to make thrillers.

The public will get really bored if all she does are thrillers. I'm sure she jumped at the chance to do some physical comedy and shoot in Hawaii. She NEVER gets to do comedy. Besides that, she's a bankable star, and even though she's played better parts it was nice of her to sign on and get the movie its money. She caused a family movie to get made, and this is movie you can take the kids to. And Foster and Butler are there for the adults. Everybody wins. And she's fine in the movie, by the way.

This film was on HBO tonight & I decided to watch it primarily because Jodie Foster was in it. Based on the plot, I didn't have any major expectations about this film, figured it was simply going to be another fantasy type film, lighthearted with minimal believability, but entertaining enough to make it somewhat fun. I was surprised at just how much fun it actually was, and more than that: Jodie Foster was excellent in it.

It was so good to see her finally playing against type and even being goofy at times. I think even in real life Jodie is the type that is pretty self-assured and unlikely to do klutzy things, so it was a real joy to see her being uncoordinated and even doing borderline slapstick stuff in places. I say bravo to her for taking a chance and doing something totally different & unexpected and doing it very well!!

I think it's nice seeing her let out her loose, goofy side... she doesn't do it often enough, but she's a good enough actress to handle the change convincingly.

If you like Jodie, nobody would have that opinion. She has done many kinds of roles and likes working with young people. She is also a producer and an artist. Most likely why she won an oscar.
