The Hispanics in the film ...

... all die, as well as the black captain. Does anybody else find this tendency to kill off the ethnic minority characters disturbing? It'd be a coincidence if it happened in one film (or TV programme - much as I love later Star Trek and Babylon 5, half their expendable redshirt pilots seemed to be Latino). However, it happens so often by now that you'd think scriptwriters would be more aware.

At the time of release it was a rare thing to happen, I even said on here back then that I was surprised the Captain and Valentino died.

Once all is said and done the film favoured Single mum's, Con men, Homosexuals, a couple of young lovers and the child of the single mum, looking at the first three I can only wonder what the child of the single mum and the young lovers had going about themselves that would put them in the "Should have died category" because the rest of them were hardly people that anyone would have cried over if they died. LOL.
