When will movie makers stop casting Devin Aoki as a sex symbol? Simply put, she's hideous to look at. I place DOA's abject failure squarely on her ugly face in the middle of the poster.

shareI don't think she's disguting, not conventionally pretty or "Hollywood pretty" by any means. But I don't think she was right for the role in a film that is based on a game best known for the "hot women". (As a girl it's not why I play the game, but you can't deny that's the game's biggest attraction.) I think her biggest let down is... what did you call it, her monotone voice lol. She does seem to lack emotion in her work, which makes you wonder how she got the role in the first place. There are many more talented actresses out there who could have played Kasumi better.

Okay, I am by NO MEANS meaning to insult Devon or anyone on this board when I say this. However, I just wanted to give my opinion and be done.
The only things that really annoyed her about me in this movie were those wide eyes...got to go. They scared me to be honest. I don't think she's ugly really, it just didn't appeal to me at all when she did that. Next to that, it was the voice in all honesty. Everytime she spoke, it sounded so...dry or whatever. I know most of it is due to the writers because they also gave her cheesy lines throughout the film. But, that's all I'm saying.

shareYeah, there are certainly worse looking women out there, but Devon Aoki is not the person you want playing a "hot" part. Kasumi is especially supposed to be one of DOA's sex symbols, and she just doesn't have the body or the looks to pull it off. But I don't know if I'd agree that she was "disgusting" or anything, just really not pretty enough to pull off this part, to be honest.
And about what I said on her body, actresses (and people) can't help how they look, but the body of the typical Hollywood female doesn't do a whole lot for me, personally. I don't think rail thin women who look like they'd snap after a bit of, let's say horseplay are particularly attractive. I'm not into big mama type women either, but meat on the bones would be nice, and most of the women in this movie aren't packing that body. Consider Tina, who's played by Joy on My Name is Earl, if you've played the games, you'd know that girl isn't half as busty enough as she needs to be to play that part! Not that DOA has set realistic standards for women, but the whole anoerexic look has always turned me off, and I don't find most of the women in this cast attractive, personally. They're not ugly, but Hollywood is (supposed to be) for acting talent, if you want looks, read a Hustler.

I don't think any of the actresses in it have the curves that DoA has...From my limited experiance of the game its all about bouncing jugs.
Ps. She isn't conventionally pretty but I think she is incredibly beautiful...but you're right...not right for Kasumi...Maybe they should have just trawled some strip clubs to get the right body types.

I mean an actress can be talented but not specially hot, so she can get nice roles in serious movie. Here we get a bunch of hottie such as Natassia Malthe, Holly Valance and Sarah Carter, then we get Aoki for the main character when she is supose to have curves and be very pretty. But that was not the only deception
Jamie Presley is kinda nice looking, but she dosen't represent Tina at all, wich i was thinking more of a "Trish Stratus" look. Younger, bigger boobs etc. I known they couldn't give enormous boobs to all the girls like in the game, but with Tina it was very important she was seen as a Blond big boob bimbo sex symbol. Presley had the role they got for her pretty well, she look like a tought chicks, but Tina is not supose to be so tought, thats the point.
Someone also said she was ugly on these boards and I think both of you need to look at a LOT more female actresses.
Sure, Aoki isn't the hottest girl ever, but there are far worse, and Devon Aoki should at least be considered cute by people.
