Career Mistake !

This could probably be the movie that destroyed the career of actionhero Vin Diesel. What was he thinking when he read the script??

reply

probably mostly money but I hope its not his end i believe hes a great actor no actor is muscle massed as him and is a great actors well besides the greats Arnold and Sly

reply

If you have the patience to see the special features, you'll discover that Diesel actually really likes kids. He is at heart actually the kind of person who would fit the role, he just apparently has more fun with action movies most of the time.

reply

Nah, this movie didn't destroy his career. It was aimed at a younger audience...not at his Fast and Furious audience. The movie that has done the most damage to his career, IMHO, is The Chronicles of Riddick...a truly horrid movie. That was one of the worst written movies I've ever seen.

reply

What?! Riddick Rocked!

reply

Nope, Riddick sucked...big time. The script was total crap.

reply

I wasn't really paying attention to the script, I was too busy watching him stab people in the face.

reply

ditto :)

reply

True, the movie did what it set out to do -- entertain and turn a profit.
What's wrong with that?

reply

Pitch Black was full of awesome.

The second one sucked more than your mom.

reply

yes, riddick was worse than The Pacifier even though it had more action in it.

reply

You are the Master of the Over-statement.
The Pacifier is a family-friendly picture that cost 56 mill and made 113 mill (not even accounting for DVD/video sales).

Besides, Vin wants to be more than an "actionhero".
Ever see "Find Me Guilty"?
He can act.

reply

Kid movies = big bucks....which i am sure he got a nice piece of.

reply

I thought this movie was actually decent for what it is. It has a pretty generic family movie plot, but it still managed to be entertaining to me for some reason. I think it was actually a decent move career wise as it shows that Vin is actually a pretty good actor that can do more than mindless action flicks.

reply

His best piece of acting I think was in A Man Apart, my kids & I like the Pacifier it is a good movie & Find me Guilty is neat to watch too, TCOR was a follow on from Pitch black which was neat to see what happened to them.

I think Vin has shown he is a versitle actor & good on him for not sticking to just action flicks he wanted to do something his Niece & nephew could watch, good on him I'd like to see him do more comedy & drama rolls.

Sooner or later it was fated for Vin Diesel to be outed: he's a monotonous, charmless, zero dimensional performer with a flat delivery and voice, and a persona that doesn't seem hetero. His career was a mistake.

reply

Maybe the same thing Arnold was thinking when he signed on for movies like Twins and Kindergarten Cop? A lot of action stars have done these fish-out-of-water movies. And if you really knew much about Vin, the only reason you'd figure he was in action movies is because he's in good shape. The dude is heavily into Dungeons & Dragons and is quite the nerd otherwise. He's probably getting more of a kick out of watching the Riddick movies then he is actually being in them.

reply

In my view i do not thin there is anything wrong with doing a kids film like this. It was good and Vin showed us that he can do more then just beat pepole up or drive hot cars. He showed that he can do a nice non viloent kid film

I totally adore Vin in everything. Granted he does seem more capable and suited for high action movies. But think of Arnold when he did Twins, or when he did the one when he carried the baby.

He's been incredible in everything.

I never understood why people chastize him. He is a great actor. Granted primarily typecast, and better suited for some roles, but that doesn't take comedy out of his realm.

He rocks, in everything he performs in. I can't be convinced otherwise, he's just too good at what he does.

this was a good fun family movie and Chronicles of Riddick was really good, that's why their making another one. And the Fast & Furious reboot did very well, so his career is fine. There just aren't too many great action flicks being made so he takes on average roles like Babylon AD.
