Is it just me or...

If you take these 2 hour-long episodes and watch them back to back, is it not actually one of the better movies you've ever seen? I was just blown away. Everything looked beautiful, and not a SINGLE acting job did I have a problem with. I dunno if this is the nature of british TV, or just a fluke, and an amazing example of what can be done with TV and the right amount of good writing, amazing visual effects, and a story line that had me enthralled from beginning to end.

Glad to see this board is still getting some love. My OP is like almost 5 years old. Anyway... I know what you mean about the acting, but to me it only adds to a piece like this. Anything in this style, Reno 911, Trailer Park Boys, Blair Witch, whatever, anything mockumentaryish is only always ADDED to by bouts of bad acting because that's how REAL people behave with a camera in their face, right? At least that's my take on it.

Yeah some of those panoramic shots of the astronauts standing on the surface of (I think it was Venus and some moon of Jupiter) extraterrestrial landscapes were literally breath taking to me. It's one of those quintessential moments that TRULY make you feel incredibly small in a Solar System so vast. And when you think that the Solar system isn't even a drop in the whole bucket... wow. These are all facts that we can know, but I felt like watching it here made me FEEL it. I dunno, does that sound strange?

Haha, I know what you mean about those scenes! It's exactly true. I'm either Atheist or Agnostic and as a result the idea of death scares the $h!t out of me! (no cushy afterlife -- even hell is more tangible to me than not existing and therefore less frightening) But those shots I thought the same thing. I could just lay down there and die, of happiness almost, if I were to actually BE there. *sigh* haha that's some f#(ked up beautiful $h!t
