Did they steal Hacksaw/Ankle situation from orignial "Mad Max"

In the original Mad Max, Max chains one of the bad guys to a vehicle that is wrecked and leaking gas. He then throws him a hacksaw. Before leaving him, he says, "You should be able to saw through the chains in about 10 minutes, but that's how long it will take them to get here. If you're lucky, you should be able to saw through your ankle in 5."

Great catch. I see it now within the Trivia section under the Spoilers part. I didn't know until now that they took that from Mad Max.

I don't know that they 'stole' it, because someone sawing through their was inevitable given the circumstances of the movie. However, writer of the film (who also played Adam) is a huge fan of Mad Max.

Maybe more like paid a tribute to it or referenced it than outright "stole" or "ripped it off".
