Caine's accent
Sorry, I'm so used to his cockney accent. So much that I initially thought that his attempt of an American accent was terrible. But maybe I am wrong. Was it as terrible as I thought?

shareI guess he was just wrong actor for the movie. Why is Michael Caine father of Nicolas Cage, it feels wrong. Maybe he is too big of a name too, movie could had benefited from less stars

I don't think there was anything wrong with Caine's accent. Maybe it slipped here and there but not enough to be noticeable or distracting. The character he portrayed came from a well-educated, tony background. It's understandable that such a man, from that generation, would have a cultivated, almost trans-Atlantic speaking style.
shareWell, Nicholas Cage's character didn't have a Chicago accent.
shareI adore Michael Caine, but I was not sure if he was even trying to do an American accent or not. Even young Nicholas Hoult did a better job.
shareMichael Caine narrates the audiobook of his memoir, The Elephant to Hollywood. He does American voices a few times, including imitating John Houston. He does a pretty good American accent in that, so that leads me to think he just didn't give a damn about this movie.
