There IS a way they could have had Cato in the movie...

There's a way they could have had Cato in the movie and be more politically correct while still keeping the character.

In the first film the Chinese government is accused of being behind the theft of the diamond so to clear their names they send one of their best agents to stand by Clouseau and pose as a humble manservant while all the while keeping him safe and pretending to learn from Clouleau the martial arts (and of course besting him with secret superior knowledge).

He would pose as a humble manservant while all the while patiently enduring this fool while cracking the case!

Did they not kind of do this in Pink Panther 2 somewhat?

reply

Where? There was no Cato in that film.
Yes, there was the Asian detective but he wasn't posing as a humble manservant/secretly a bodyguard.

reply

True, but did they not do a few Cato style jokes with him? Sure there is a "my little yellow friend" comment that does not go down well (both on and off camera!)

I am actually surprised a comedy this bland, people THIS greedy for money, a team THIS hell-bent on casting talentless hacks as long as they're famous or popular, had the guts to actually talk about CHINA and CHINESE people as some kind of villains or cast them in any kind of bad light.

I guess this movie was made JUST before hollyweird started bowing to the murderous and cruel, human rights-violating CCP.
