A Suggestion for an Alternate Ending (SPOILERS)

Just finished watching it. The film was interesting, had a great premise, and there was a lot I really enjoyed. There were also, of course, several frustrating plot holes and some inexplicable character choices, but that's not what I'm here for.

Part-way through, I was thinking about the rules of the universe (clothing is unaltered, etc.) combined with the fact that Austin's character said that everything they sent back more than ten minutes died. I started pondering a possible ending that I didn't think they'd have the cajones to actually go for (they didn't).

I thought it would've been neat, and tragic, had Austin's character realized the devastation his actions caused, and decided to rectify them. He takes a marker, writes out a message on his shirt to the FBI agent about the bank robbers, then goes back in time. He reappears, dead on the floor, and the agents find the note and prevent the robbery. Could've been cool.
