How can anyone actually like this

I can't understand how anyone can actually like this movie and think the directing was good.

To start, the story is full of hole and plot points that make no sense. Did anyone notice at one commercial break the bad guys were running out of a bus shooting, but when the commercial was over they were sitting on the bus talking. Worse then the plot holes is the directing.

The director seems to feel the need to spin the camera around the actors at all times, and films possibly the worst shootout seen ever created. It just makes you motion sick at time when both the actors and the camera are spinning at different speeds for no reason.

More odd perhaps is that in one seen when a linear dialog is occurring the sense is taking place while they are sitting in a car and while they are walking, the words match up to if they were in the car the whole time but the director keeps jumping to them in transit having the same conversation and it makes no sense.

The saddest part of the whole movie is that nothing bad would have happened had the female FBI agent just kept her gun at her side and not randomly shot people. She does it on no less then 3 occasions and had she not at any of those points things would have worked out much better and you wouldn't have thought she was a moron.

And on one other note, the lines "I'll always be with you" and "You can't or you won't" should be put into a movie if you can help it, especially if they make absolutely no sense with the scene or if there is no background for them to be said.

My recommendation, sit down with a bunch of friends and watch this for a good laugh.

Oh and just so you don't think I don't like Sci-Fi movies, I'm usually a big fan of movies about anything sci-fi, especially involving time travel and such, but this movie is just plain bad, and the science behind it makes no sense and isn't explained at all so it just amounts to a stupid slug fest.

Dont worry, you are not alone. I'm sure the number of people who hated this movie is greater then those who love it. This seems like it would be a very popular movie in other countries outside of the US, as most *beep* films are. But you are right in the fact that this would make a great drinking game with your friends. Plus alcohol would help dull the pain of having to watch it again.

The vote tally is sizing up in our favor.

And in all fairness, the scene of the Bank robbers running out of the bus and shooting was just them imaging they were Butch Casidy and the Sundance Kid in their finall moments--one of the best endings for a movie ever.

I don't think this movie is anything great but it had a enjoyable plot(although a few plotholes) and great performance by Vinnie Jones. I laughed a few times while watching it. Maybe i was in a good mood but i was say it was decent if you have nothing better to do.

Well intelligent films are ONLY popular outside the United *beep* of Amoriga.
I'm definetly gonna watch this now.

I was so excited when I saw the commercials for this movie on Sci-Fi. I waited anxiously for the premiere, set the DVR to capture it just in case I missed anything, and sat down with a big grin to watch it. About five minutes into this piece of crap, my smile faded and I walked away. Over the next few days I finally watched the whole thing, in small doses, from the recording because it pissed me off so much that I couldn't watch it all at once. Why did this movie have to suck so much?

Didn't it seem like it was made with the idea that it was going to be a studio release but no studio would pick it up, since there was plenty of swearing that had to be dubbed over? Or was the director a little too simple-minded to realize that those words don't fly on basic cable?

it felt like the director was trying too hard to be hip and trendy with his camera. boy was that a mistake, it wouldn't even pass for music video directing...

think the posters here are ready to go back to film school..the director actually made a decision about the camera action which gives a visual clue to the film.. that it's actioner done in the intentionally hyperreal style of an anime film.. why? you may well ask.. because it's a storybook entertainment with the de rigeur happy ending.. a once upon a time tale that loves the films it spoofs.. tarantino - lite ? yeah, that's exactly the idea.. but sergio leone-lite more like.. wake up and smell the parody..

I've spent about 16 hours getting up close and personal with this movie this week, as a part of my job, and I have to say I agree with you on a lot of these points.

I will point out that the scene where they come out of the bus, guns blazing, and then are seen sitting in the bus talking, makes a lot more sense without the commercial breaks: it's a fantasy sequence. It comes after discussion of "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid," and later in the movie (during a death scene, if you remember) the end of that movie is discussed in a little more detail: the protagonists come out shooting in the face of insurmountable odds. The "this didn't happen" aspect is a lot more recognizable when seen without commercial break interruptions.

I did not like the spinning-around camera work in either the bank or the bus bathroom. I thought the bus bathroom sequence was really stupid anyway - the chilly female suddenly becomes seductive (with blood spatter on her freaking face, really off-putting), completely out of character. I guess she's supposed to be able to roll with the punches like that as an FBI agent, but you don't really see her manipulating people like that in any of the rest of the film - she generally comes across as straight-forward, impatient, and, at times, abrasive.

Sean Astin's character's lines to the bank teller about his fantasies about her were wholly inappropriate, but I'm sure they are the dream lines of undersexed nerds everywhere. Attention, boys: this will not get you the ladies, and is inappropriate outside the realm of fantasy and/or paid companionship. But, then again, this is a movie, and girls are there to forward the plot and look pretty.

SPOILER

I didn't really like the ending, where the terrorists just took off instead of robbing the bank, except maybe the characters were tired of dealing with one another at that point.

It was somewhat enjoyable if you like disposable sci-fi lite movies with gunfire and explosions, but I wouldn't go out of my way to rent it. Maybe drop it into the Netflix queue or catch it if it's rerun on Sci-Fi Channel sometime.

Why would Briggs try to rob the bank when he knew there were two armed FBI agents and a guy with a polydimensional translocation device inside?

Well, done, so good of you to back that up. Especially as the definition of opinion is that it is someone's OPINION. If my opinion is that you are ugly, then you're ugly, TO ME. I think that, so to me, you are. Your opinion may be different, but that's not my opinion.

Duh.

Thank you for so wholeheartedly agreeing with me.

Damn! I should have read the reviews before going to my local Blockbuster to rent it...

Now I am stuck with this piece of crap movie and ALEXANDER! I can't say which one of them both sucks more. I just know that with Alexander, the studio got more sh** for the bucks they spent! At least this movie was made on a shoestring budget, so it's not that much of a waist.

Nevertheless, I just finished watching both of the movies halfway through and I am so frustrated that I think, that I have to look for another hobby than watching movies!

Damn! Reality sucks!

BTW: Vinnie Jones is so wasted in this movie! He is a good actor... Check out Two smoking barrels!
