i just am a HUGE fan of topher grace and was watching TV one night when some show mentioned a sex scene with him and laura linney in a movie called P.S. i haven't seen the movie myself but have been reading some threads and just wondering - by 'real' life sex, do you mean they ACTUALLY did it in real life for the movie?? thx for your time and please comment back!!

No they did not acutally have sex - that would be a porn. By saying real they mean not the kitschy fluff sex scenes you see in most movies. A good example a poorly acted, awkward, and very fake sex scene would be the one between Scott Speedman and Kate Beckinsale in Underworld. Terrible terrible sex scene! Anywho hope that clarifies :D

But isn't that what 'method actors' do? They actually do what they're acting? Either way, if they are actually having sex (which I doubt here in this film) I wouldn't consider it pornography. But someone clarify the whole method actor thing and let me know if I'm off on the definition.

Generally the overall result aims to shed the artifice of traditional theater in favor of a more 'natural' product. I saw no method acting in P.S., and I seriously doubt Linney and Grace had statutory sex on camera.

Method acting just means the actors are trying to remember a simular experience to the scene they are preforming. Basically trying to relive the emotional experience. For example remembering the first time you had sex trying to film a sex scene.
I watched the film from start to finish (I have three degrees from and worked at Columbia University and enjoyed seeing the place on film). The scene in question is VERY realistic, with many little telling details. Linney's chest is actually reddened, flushed suggesting orgasm. I agree with some of the other posters - it is a very sophisticated representation, not at all pornographic.

Of course they didn't! According to the actors, the scene was shot in "real-time"....not "real". Meaning in the same speed and duration that they would occur in real life.
Guess that's how good they are that some think they really did it. :P
No, they didn't. They had to do around 40 takes of the scene, from a variety of angles. Nobody could handle that if it were "real."
