Symbolism

Saime represents the lost Constantinople. He (Greeks) want her, and she is not averse to returning to him (Greeks), but it is not to be. She is too connected with the Turk now and must go with him (Ankara).

The message is that Constantinople/Saime is lost and the best thing to do is give up that dream and resign oneself to it.
