So no one apologized to Cady?

This always irritates me in stories like this. Cady feels so guilty for her actions and who she's become, so she apologizes to Regina and Janis. Which she should. Great.

But what about WHY she became this way in the first place? Yes, she's responsible for her own actions. But Regina was more horrible than everyone, and Janis was pretty bad too, yet I cannot remember a single scene where these two apologize to Cady. Regina should have been on stage apologizing to the school for being such a heartless bully.

There's a deleted scene where Regina forgives Cady for the bus incident and everything else

reply

Yeah that irked me. Janis asks her if she's still an *beep* at the prom after she apologized to the whole school basically. Take a look in the mirror Janis, you're not innocent.

reply

Janis was as bad as Regina.
She went overboard in her revenge for something that happened in middle school.
Not only that, in the beginning of the movie, when she describes the other students, she makes fun of the girl with dwarfism and the girl in the wheelchair.

I don't remember that happening, and I've seen this many times.

Here's that exact line...

Now, where you sit in the cafeteria is crucial because you got everybody there...You got your Freshmen, ROTC Guys, Preps, JV Jocks, Asian Nerds, Cool Asians, Varsity Jocks, Unfriendly Black Hotties, Girls Who Eat Their Feelings, Girls Who Don't Eat Anything, Desperate Wannabees, Burnouts, Sexually-Active Band Geeks, the greatest people you will ever meet, and the worst...Beware of The Plastics.

You're right Stefan--absolutely no mention of dwarfs or wheelchair-enthusiasts.

I agree with what everybody says about Janis and Regina needing to apologize too, but the movie decided to just focus on the central character of Cady, and they didn't want to drag it on longer with all of the necessary apologies (and pretty-much the WHOLE SCHOOL needed to apologize for one thing or another).

Now I actually like it better this way. Don't believe that tacked-on happy ending with the whole "Girl World is at peace" nonsense for a second.

We all know that Girl World will NEVER be at peace, and that the Reginas and Janises of the world will never change.

reply

I agree that there shouldn't necessarily be a tacked-on happy ending or too long of a running time, but I do think that Janis should have apologized to Cady. Like someone else said, Cady is responsible for her own actions, but Janis started it and put constant pressure on Cady to do it, when Janis and Damien were her only friends. It doesn't bother me so much that Regina didn't apologize; we're not supposed to like her anyway. But Janis is someone who Cady is supposed to be genuinely friends with, and I think we're supposed to like her, but she takes no responsibility for her actions at all throughout the entire movie, and that's not right. Cady clearly stays friends with her after all the fallout, but I feel like she's being pressured and dominated just like in the Plastics, only in a different way, but Janis is just as much of a 'Queen Bee' in her own right as Regina.

Well-put Alexa!

reply

That's a great point and was made clear. Janis says "at least me and Regina know we're mean!"; and Daniel (Damein) described the character as "the mean girl you'd want to hug, not the one who you'd want a bucket of water to fall on".

It's pretty much without being said that the school forgave Cady. We didn't need to see classmates coming up to her. That would have made it even cheesier.

A person hates you because they either wanna be you, see you as a threat, or hate themself

reply

ACTUALLY,
When she says desperate wannabes, she points to the girl with dwarfism and the girl in the wheelchair.
Watch the movie again.

But she's not attacking them for what they look like--It's for being Desperate Wannabees!

reply

I agree! Regina should've apologized first for making out with Aaron just to make her jealous, and Making up rumors about her being a stalker to Aaron, and trying to get her into trouble with the burn book.

reply

whatever

This always bothered me, too. For all her personal growth and arc, Cady at least deserved an apology from both Regina, Janis and even Gretchen. It's a pity that it never was shown, when in fact all three of them were partially responsible for Cady's outcome.
