I hate the Replicators!!

There has only been 2 replicator episodes worth watching (both were on SG1). The first, when Thor asks for help. The second, Ark of Truth when they died(at least in the Milky way). The human shaped ones were the worst.

They were over used on SG1 and as soon as it ended they pop up on this show. They are an overused, overly easy plot device. They can do any thing at anytime. They bore me to death.

How anyone could find "Be All My Sins Remember'd" boring is hard for me to fathom.

Since I was rewatching Atlantis I wanted to get past "Be All My Sins Remember'd" before I responded.

I had not seen it since it originally aired and yes it was a good episode. The thing is the only replicator we see for more than 2 seconds is FRAN. Who is coincidentally the least annoying one of the bunch. The whole episode was about everything and everyone else.

There was an exciting space battle (between ships)and the replicator planet blows up. Again the replicators themselves were uneventful and boring.

Just when we I thought they were all gone again, we see nanite enhanced pseudo Weir who by her connection to the replicators is also now boring.

They're better than the Wraith IMO!

More annoyed that SGA used them... a lot. To the point where I can't tell if it messed up the replicator origin.

First they're a threat to the Asgard, I assumed they originated in their galaxy. They made it clear the Asgard could easily take on the Goa'uld so the replicators were created as to why they don't.

Then SG-1 discovers a girl that can build and control them in the Milky Way. So did the Asgard discover them in our galaxy and bring them to theirs?

Then it turns out the Ancients also invented replicators too? Really?

reply

They were overused. They should have had nothing to do with SGA. It's like they couldn't come up with a new villain/monster.

Don't get me wrong. I liked both shows (all 3 really) and the whole Stargate environment. It's just an example of how even a show I like can do annoying things.

They're kind of like the Borg. After a while, they get annoying.

Exactly how are they "annoying"?

The space battle where they destroyed the replicator planet is one of the best moments.

reply

Yeah, me too. All of those episodes can be summarised as: Start shooting, retreat, reload, keep shooting, retreat, reload, until someone pushes the magic button that disintegrates them all at once, except for the one that survives and starts replicating again.

Seriously, they should have been used once and then discarded.

reply

Agreed. The Replicators are my most hated of any and all Stargate eps. They're the absolute worst. It annoyed me they were made a crucial story element to the superstory of SG-1 so you can't even skip those episodes.
