Season 5 as a whole

While it was nice to have Richard Woolsey as the leader of Atlantis and Jennifer as a regular but I found this season to be a weak one.

I really liked it, but it had a few weak episodes (just like the other seasons). I missed Sam though, and the gene therapy story was kind of boring/wierd

A lot about the show really started to work in season 5. The new doctor was toned down a bit and fit in well, and the romance with Rodney was welcome. As well Rod's bromance with Shepperd. Woolsey was finally the commander of Atlantis the show needed. And the recurring characters were firing on all cylinders, and it was nice to have the old doctor back now and then. But all the ongoing storylines were just out of gas and they weren't bothering to set up new ones.

Stargate: Atlantis is one of the few long-running sci-fi shows (long-running in my mind being at least 5 seasons) that I can think of in which I thought every season was excellent.
