HORRIBLY TERRIBLE

wow, just watched it and, not that i had high expectations but i didnt think it would suck this bad. it was so bad, so terribly written, so immature, so predictable, so unrealistic in a theme that thrives on realism, so hoaky, so unsubtly directed. On the back of the dvd it says in the tradition of american beauty, then i knew that it wasnt as good, not that i thought it would be in the first place but they just want to orient themselves with a good movie, this movie is the equivelant to american beauty's fecal matter. AB was good because it was above what was on the surface, what the dialogue was, it was all above it in a way that was not immature and led it to be very misunderstood. this film is basically so crappy because of its unsubtleness, at times i had to look away from the screen because i was sure they were going to say something so immature and sure enough i heard it with my teeth crinched.

is dan harris a freshman in high school, because this is probably the film i wouldve made in 9th grade.

How about this: What good movies do you hate? You know, movies that are critically acclaimed, or that have a huge fanbase; films that are just generally considered good. What do you hate, that everyone else likes?

reply

um,
The Shawshank Redemption
The Lord of the Rings
Forrest Gump
L.A. Confidential
Crash

to name a few, i hope you're not doing this just to make me look provocative and have me answer all these dumb questions about each filmlisted

Last Film I Watched:
Trois Coeleurs: Bleu - Krysztof Kieslowski(7/10)

reply

No, just curious. You tend to get a better feel out of what someone looks for in a movie from the greats they hate than all the hundreds of movies they agree are good.

reply

i can agree with that
what supposedly good films do you dislike?

Last Film I Watched:
Pierrot Le Fou - Jean Luc-Godard(9/10)

reply

The Lord of the Rings, It's A Wonderful Life, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Braveheart, Gladiator...

I'm sure there's more, but that's what comes immediately to mind.

reply

i think Eternal Sunshine is decent, but definitely not as good as all the fanatics say it is.
I have not seen Braveheart or Gladiator for obvious reasons (they dont seem like my cup o tea)
and i like It's A Wonderful Life mainly because Stewart is so good, but it is definitely overly sentimental

you may hate it but tons of people love it. still, you gave it a 4.

you have posted/replied to so many Imaginary heroes posts, we all get it, you dont like the movie. but dont give it a bad name just because you dont like it. i was a very good movie and you shouldnt keep on bashing it.

by the way i saw your rating lists, you dont like many good movies. but im not going to go post on the boards there and say how bad it was or reply saying not to watch it, everyone has their own opinion but noone should keep pushing them on people.

reply

but dont give it a bad name just because you dont like it. i was a very good movie and you shouldnt keep on bashing it.

well i will give it a bad name, because its a bad movie. and the only time i will "bash" the film (your harsh word for merely giving negative criticism) is when people (you) reply to my post, i feel obligated to reply back.

and are you going to expound on why you think its a good movie or just tell me this supposed fact that its good?

by the way i saw your rating lists, you dont like many good movies.

hmm, you might wanna give me something a little more subjective than this, because as i see it i like every good film ive seen

everyone has their own opinion but noone should keep pushing them on people.

err, wasnt that what you were doing (look above) telling me its a very good move and i shouldnt keep bashing it? pushing the opinion that its a good film on me

by the way, i feel free to go to boards of films i like and bash away

i am open to any reply
p.s. sorry i dont watch The O.C.

omg!im sorry to anyone who didnt like this film but i did, so why dont go on a imdb board about a film you do like because no one cares if you didnt like this film!
and you cant say this film is bad, you might not have liked it but that doesnt make it bad.

reply

OMG you're painfully bitter and pretentious

I am shocked to see that it got a 7.1. I came on here expecting to see a 4 or lower because so many films I enjoyed were ranked low. I just could not see the justification for this high scoring. I rarely can put into words why I dislike a movie and I can for this one which speaks volumes for how poorly it was made. It was slow. I never connected with the character who committed suicide because it happened at the beginning. If they were going to put the suicide at the beginning, they should have had more back story. I had no idea who was beating the younger brother until the end. The elephant in the room wasn't clear. The family had poor relations but not intense enough for me to care. I did not relate to any character. The best films have relatable characters no matter what walk of life you are from not just a connect because the character does drugs and you do too. That just doesn't fly. Should I go on? Oh yeah, the climax at the end was not climatic. I waited the whole movie for the reveal to redeem this movie but it was nonredeemable. The character who committed suicide was a jerk and the fact that his brother didn't stop him, what's the point. Not everyone's a hero? I already knew that.
