Why is it rated so low?

Before any of you get a chance to comment I'll answer my own question:because Uwe Boll has generated a lot of hatred.

Sure, the plot, even if it had potential, is basically a stereotype. We could all thank the screenwriter for that, and for some really bad dialogue. The acting is mediocre at best(with Tara Reid taking it up a notch in the "I can't act, I'm just a pretty face" department). And the direction, well...the direction looks like it came from a 10-year old. It's like Uwe Boll keeps making his first movie ever, but it just so happens it's not with his own camera and friends as actors, it's a big budget production.I mean, he knows nothing of suspense, or effective editing and not to mention the horrible use of music throughout the movie.Though he might have some talent in the action scene department.

On the other hand I've seen so much worse editing, direction and well...movies, that this one's rating surprises me.I would expect it to be around 4-5, as I've seen more idiotic films rated higher.

Apparently Uwe Boll has angered so many people by presenting under-par adaptions of video games that people rate low just because it's a Boll movie, forgetting that there are worse directors out there.Perhaps it's the fact that he keeps making them(unlike others who flop with their movies), but he's not in any way the worst director out there, and this movie does not deserve to be in the Bottom #100.

As I've said, this isn't all bad, it's a good enough DVD for a lazy afternoon, but just as a one time rental.

PS:Wondering why good actors(and there's plenty of them), knowing Boll's reputation still sign on to do his projects.I'm sure not all of them do it just because of the paycheck.

I did not like this movie at all, I almost wish that Parker Bennett, Terry Runte, and Ed Solomon had never written Super Mario Bros. and started this whole genre, because of this film and uwe Boll's horrible movies (luckily Mario Bros. was good enough that all is forgiven). Movies like this are ruining all of my favorite games for me, i mean, it'd be like liking a show as a kid, and then finding out later that oe of the actors was a pedo or something, just ruins it. I have no clue why videogame makers continue to keep selling the rights to their games to him. I applaud Hideo Kojima for refusing to sell the rights of Metal Gear Solid to him. I ussually respect writers, directors, or producers(I'm a writer myself), but not this guy.

I ask the same question for House of the Dead, I thought The House of the Dead was a decent movie, the best Uwe Boll movie IMO. But I didn't like this movie as much at all

"Wendy, I'm Home"-Jack Torrance "The Shining"

I can say one thing--this movie is so bad that I KNOW that I've seen it before, but I can't remember a damned thing about it!!!

you answered your own question correctly: its just cause uwe boll is hated for making pretty crappy game movies. so all these 'gamers' come out of the woodwork and rate an arguably 5.5/10 movie down to 1 or 2 because 'that dude is ruining our favorite game' or something like that. if no game connection were mentioned i'm sure it'd be higher.

It get such a low rating because:
1. It IS a bad production, I agree that there are worse but this one is just as bad as the worse, only difference is that it has a little more money in it. Hence not the worst acting ever nor the worse effects but they are bad.

2. It's a game-to-movie adaption which always builds up excitement in people and then they get pissed and dissapointed after seeing it.

Even Silent Hill get alot of bashing even though it's a really good game-to-movie adaption. Since people get different expectations for it.

for god's sake, I'll tell you why it is so low. Because in one scene a dead character is sitting back up before they leave the scene. That is the worst edit EVER!

it seems to me that enough people hate uwe boll

to just *beep* on his movie regardless of if they have seen it

i am not saying his movies are good

but are they *beep* abominations

i dont know its a bit far fetched

coz it´s an evidence of the "Chaos Theory"...HAHAHAHAHAHA
my opinion always was: if you want to make a video-game adaptation, make it exactly or almost exactly like the game before to try innovations and after to finish with a s**t between your hands...

totally agree with the thread starter, I mean it's not aa good movie, but watching it expecting to see one of the worst movies ever, I was Fairly surprised. And I remember seeing so much worse movies than this one. I can understand AiTD fans, because even though I haven't even played the games, i could tell that they have propably nothing in common.
While watching the movie I kinda compared it to to DOOM, even though that one may be a still a little bit better, especially with the CGI, they are not that far apart and DOOM has a 5.2 rating...

It IS a *beep* movie, but i don't know if it should AVERAGE 2.2. I gave it a 2/10 myself, but the middle of the movie wasn't horrendous. Now, the beginning and ending...that's another matter...

Before I even go check out who the Director is, and why he gained a lot of hatred my rating would have been 0.5/10 it was AWFUL, the 0.5 was because it made me chuckle

Which is precisely why I think Postal might be a bit better :P

But frankly I aknowledge the execution and unintended comedy, but I've seen it more than once, and in far less ostracized movies.

I don't care what anyone says... Tara is hot.. but when she starts talking.. I kind of find her looking like a female version of Paul Walker. fag

You think the rating is low because all the IMDb users hate him and gave it a low rating before they hate him? Well, think again, go to Rotten Tomatoes. The ratings are made by professional critics, and the movies as only 1%. And it's worse than here on the IMDb. So think again, buddy.

Boll himself deserves to be on the bottom 100.
