Does this actually happen?

Are there actually parents out there that do this to their children?
Or was it so disturbing purely for the extra shock value it would add?
I live a fairly sheltered life i guess if this movie is real.
I find it hard to believe that these things would happen to this extent. I mean, I know they happen but this movie was just on another level...

Sorry if im not being clear!

I've seen druggy parents (poorly)taking care of kids, as well as pretty severe neglect and slight abuse. Luckily, I haven't seen anything similar to this movie, but unfortunately, it happens.

yes our neighbours kid was taken away after her arm was broken in 2 places and she was left by herself for days on end and she was a baby, she went back a few times until she was a ward of the state and eventually adopted out, it happens all to often but we never really know about it..

This movie is based on a TRUE story. There are really people out there like this. They are all over. You would be surprised the messed up stuff that some kids have to go through.

It is NOT based on a true story. JT Leroy words are those of a 40 year old woman. Another female portrays Leroy in person. Luckily, this is a work of fiction. Unfortunately, this stuff does happen to children. I used to work in a shelter for abused children and I've seen some really horrific things happen to children. However, this story is ficticious.

A woman in San Antonio ate her 3 week old babies brain and you are wondering if the stuff in this movie really happens?

There was this recent case in Malaysia where a drug addict father made her 13 yrs old daughter take to the streets to beg for money so he could get his drug fix. He even raped her several times and warned her if she went to the authorities, he would throw acid on her face. She had to bring home at least RM50(abt $14 usd) from begging on the streets or else she would be violently abused. Sometimes, she was forced to beg till the early hours of the morning if she didn't return home with the right amount and often missed school as a result. Her 2 younger brothers - aged 10 and 8 also suffered abuse. Her father would often take a wire cable and hit her 2 brothers. The neighbours could hear screams and shouts frequently whenever the father was home.

Her suffering ended on 12th Aug when the welfare department received a tip-off from an abuse hotline. Welfare officers took her into custody and lodged a police report about the abuse and rape. All this started when she was 10 yrs old. Can you imagine the nightmare she had to endure for 3 yrs?

Currently, the police still could not locate the father. The girl is temporary staying in an undisclosed welfare home and her siblings are staying with the mother.

Woooow
That might actually trump the horrors that Jermiah had to deal with...
Although the sad thing is Jermiah never got taken from his mum the movie ends with him rejoining her.

Truth is always hard to believe. At least you dont go around spouting "this is fake this dont happen ect". Its never too late to learn.

this movie is just your average night at your local trailer park or your local ghetto.

reply

Unfortunately yes. It happens every day. Drugs, alcohol, and mental illness have destroyed families.

reply

Are you kidding me?! Of course it happens.

I’m surrounded by a cesspool of activity.
