I'm i the only person who liked this film?

I thought it pretty funny, it could of done with a bit of female nudity - it was just silly really, not much happened, but i suppose that was the point it was making about their lives being boring

I'm certainly not hailing this as a classic but it is far from the worst film of the year that it was tainted as. Some terrible jokes for sure but some genuine lol moments as well turned this into a pleasant surprise. My warning is that if you don't like films or television programmes that are done in bad taste then this is not for you. A number of the jokes are cringeworthy and embarrassingly unfunny yet it's not there where I think the film's gotten the reputation that it has.

When I say that some of the jokes are bad taste I am thinking of the most excruciatingly bad taste jokes that you can possibly think of. It's there were the film is a big hit and miss. Generally the real bad taste jokes are terrible and in some cases I was struggling to watch. I don't mean because it was so unfunny, I mean because they really were not watchable. However I have great constitution when it comes to films and soldier on I did to witness a film that eventually fell apart in the last half hour.

If you're a male of the Gregory's Girl generation, liked early 80s British music i.e. punk, Dexy's, ska and the like I am sure you will be able to appreciate more parts of this film than others who haven't been fortunate enough to be raised with credibility in artistic interpretation as an innate ability. This is closer to the comedy in which I think most males of a similar age to myself will have experienced growing up through school and whilst it is crass and smutty at times it does have enough funny moments to justify it's rental.

Don't expect anything stylish, classy or respectful but this is closer to the England I know and live in than the tired brit-gangster flicks that get turfed out year after year. Much funnier than Dodgeball and it's only the lack of a real story that stop this being a pont higher.. 6/10.

Slated by the critics, I held out little hope for this movie. I was wrong and I found it very, very funny. It is like a (un)natural progression of the 'Carry On' series. Just good low-brow fun.

one of the funniest films i have ever seen.

was laughing my arse off all the way through

I watched this film on Sky the other night with my girlfriend and we both laughed our arses off. I wasnt sure what to expect and didnt realise it would be so crude but that made it all the more funny and all the more realistic in a twisted kind of way.
Its great crude comedy in the vein of sitcoms like Two Pints.... and Gimmme Gimme Gimme.
I think I'll be buying the dvd soon.

This film is truly 'the street' people, and crude I agree, but funny as hell. As for myself I'm only here for the threesome!

PS Vegas rules!

Oh my dear lord, do you people have no comedic taste? Someone masturbating next to his friend over a fish and jam sandwich or something (i saw it 2 years ago so forgive the inaccuracies) isn't funny, its just crude and low-brow. I'm not 'trolling' as some people call it, I just believe that ever since JV did this film, people have associated him with an awful piece of cinematic work like S. Martin and Sgt. Bilko. There, my little rants over and done with, but i still want you to know I gave this film a 1 (petty or what?)

Like any movie, good or bad, it will have both detractors and fans. I saw this in the theater with my wife, and it wasn't bad. Although we found it a bit flat at times, it didn't deserve the absolute panning it received. I think that an above poster was correct in citing a 'bandwagon effect' in the critical reaction to this film. The bandwagon effect is why some bad movies are overpraised and some good movies are panned. Most people are not independent thinkers, and will praise and pan things only according to what other people are saying. Y.

no, the way it was done, it WAS funny.

reply

no - youre not the only person who liked it.

If you cast a vote for this film, you'll see that by far the largest number of votes cast for this film are at 1/10 (currently 137 votes) and 10/10 (currently 91 votes).

So, most people either love this film or hate it, there arent as many people as usual in-between.

I think what it comes down to, is that all the boring uptight twats of the world, hate it. And there are a lot of them... but... who cares what the hell they think. They can go back to watching Coronation Street or Neighbours or whatever the hell they want.

And people with a sense of humour can treasure gems like this.

I stumbled upon this last night at 1am on C4 & gave it a try.

It was great! I laughed out loud time & time again and had to stay up til the end even though I was exhausted. I'm not even a great fan of Johnny Vegas but I thought he was great, especially his character shouting earnestly through the brother's letterbox, "A threesome with your sister would really cheer me up right now".

Horses for courses but I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I saw it last night and thought that it was very good film. It addressed parts of modern life from the view point of a working class adult male in the early 21st century U.K.I think in years to come this will be seen as a slice of social history just as some of the rants that I have read on this board will also be seen for what they are.
I cannot help but think that the McKenzie Crook character was not to far from the mark when he spoke of many people who would just be happy to watch hard-core sex films. Perhaps he was giving voice to the feeling that modern life had not so much to offer the working class male, and that he felt the need just to view the most base and basic acts and emotions.
Any way in short I think that this was a good film it made some interesting points that maybe some people could not see because of the way these points where presented. Perhaps snobbishness, prudery and a general misunderstanding of what the film were about fuel some of the less than positive remarks.

This was funny and a pretty realistic portrayal of normal men approaching middle age, IMHO. They were struggling to get laid and when they eventually did it was usually a disappointment.

Loved the awkward conversation between the two fellas pre threesome. Real life sex is almost always very unsexy like this.

I believe this film was destroyed by critics as it was funded by lottery cash they thought would have been better spent on operas.
