Unrated version SO much better.

If anyone has seen the unrated version you'll know it was much more scenes with character development and very interesting scenes featuring him escaping the Soviet border and during the war scenes. It would have made the film much better. Also, it's much more believable in the way they portray him escaping the Soviet border, in the theatrical version it felt very rushed.

Th copy I own on DVD is the unrated version. I don't think I've ever seen the theatrical version.

I have seen both versions and I absolutely agree. I have no idea why a shortened, inferior version of this movie even exists. Did the studio execs think that audiences wouldn't be patient enough to sit in a theater for an extra 10 minutes? The short version is totally unnecessary.

That's why studio execs are dumb.
