I thought Man with the Screaming Brain would suck, but it didn't. It was actually pretty funny.
Alien Apoc is probably one of the worst films I have ever seen though.

Actually they're both terrible.

Alien Apocalypse is disturbingly bad to me, like a MST3K movie, its like a "Laserblast" for the modern era... I still watch it for Bruce, but its AWEFUL.
Screaming Brain is more watchable, but its pretty bad too. Bruce is fun in it, Ted Raimi didn't get on my nerves, he had a certain charm, and I laughed at some parts. Also, I'm partial to Bulgaria so that gave me enough reason to buy it. But the movie overall is stupid. Still, lovers of Bruce should watch it and enjoy. Alien Apocalypse.... you might want to avoid it like the plague.

"Ted Raimi didn't get on my nerve"

i just have to ask am I the only one who likes Ted Raimi?
All my friends think he is awful as well.

MWTSB is far more enjoyable. AA is a hard watch and the only reason it resides in my DVD collection is to complete my Bruce Campbell movie collection. Yes I like the actor enough to actively seek out everything he has done.
AA faults with the fact that when it takes itself seriously it is a painfull watch and any attempts at humor were missed by me. I would only recommend it if you are a completest and must own everything he's done.
MWTSB however is a riot. Not a good movie on any level, but Bruce's humor and acting make it somehow entertaining as hell.
Also I would Highly recomend Luck Mcgee's "The Woods" Bruce isn't in it nearly enough but his peformance is great and the film is outstanding.

Having watched this recently and scene AA on sci-fi like 5 years ago or something.. I prefer AA this movie is not really funny and not that memorable..

Hi Ash-220!

How are you ?

I liked "Alien apocalypse" way more than this Brain silly thing..

"Alien apocalypse" is much more funny (it tends to be funny and is funny while the other tries to but only does 1-2 times (or more if your own brain is 5 years old)), "Alien apocalypse" is well done and even has some fun metaphores.

It's not big but still good, cheesy and really fun.

Ok, have a nice day!

I liked AA more, it was funnier and more enjoyable. I thought MWTSB was kind of dull. Neither are a Bubba Ho-Tep or Evil Dead 2.

Woah what's with all the Alien Apocalypse hate!? I think I'm the only person alive to think that was a good film. It wasn't great or anything, and yes the aliens were the worse thing ever (i would think in 2005, most civillians could render better models on their home computers) but still, the film was okay.

To the OP, i would reccomend you buy "the Bruce Campbell collection" it was only about £10 (In England) and has My name Is bruce, Bubba HoTep, Alien Apocalypse, AND Man with the Screaming Brain. Yah

All in all is all we are!

Man With The Screaming Brain, it had all the charm you'd expect from a good B-Movie and the writing was surprisingly good, plus it got some big laughs from me.

Alien Apocalypse on the other hand had all the things you don't like to see in a B-Movie; most importantly that it was too dry. That movie was aching for some over-the-top Bruce Campbell and some zaniness to save it, and didn't get either. It ended up being too dry, and that kills a B-Movie.

Both were so very poorly made surely on 10% of the claimed budget but both were also entertaining and fun.
For me I go with Alien Apocalypse it had a more dynamic story, more scenery, more characters and events so overall it was the total package.

What kills me is the 80's produced a ton of amazing prosthetic creatures in really low budget, lousy movies and nobody in these production companies thinks they should step back a couple decades and revive this technology?
Look at The Guiver and what a great impact actors in equivalent rubber suits in A.A. would have made rather than CGI that looks like an 8th grader did the work.

These companies just keep churning out $5,000 in CGI when they could do it with prosthetics for less money and with a much better end result.
You couldn't pay me to sit through 99.999% of Si-Fy channel movies anymore or their straight to DVD equivalents.
