The End... Women and Men VOTE HERE (Spoiler Alert!)

For those that have seen the ending, lets vote... Did they die in cement or live to be old people in that nursing home? No votes for him dying in the parking lot, that's dumb.

I already forget how I used to feel about you...

I believe that they died. I think at the end we see their life as it could have been if they actually got together and stayed together.

I'm female.

I'm gonna go 'Nolan' on this one and say that the end is a 'Game!' to the viewer and its up to us to call a bluff on this or play along. Of course it doesn't make sense, but neither to abstract ideas and randomness such as events in this movie. Its these events that make the amazing chemistry between them.

None of the events except for them being old together were possible because that's not how things happened. It must have been what they both wished happened and that maybe if things happened the way they wanted it to (the ending flashbacks) then 10+ years wouldn't be wasted.

You don't watch Nolan movies, they watch you!

They died, although I whole-heartedly wish that they lived. I always hope for a happy ending and movies like this one fill me up with grief. Maybe I am too naive and romantic, but that's me. And the final scenes, showing them as an elderly couple, and the many flashbacks of them kissing, are what could it have been, if they stopped playing the "childish game" for a moment and expressed their true feelings... and what I hoped to have happened.

Why does love have to be so difficult and devastating? Is it even possible to be truly enjoyed? As a 25 year old, those are some sad thoughts to have. Maybe after some years, I'll come back to this thread and give myself an answer - this thread seems to have lived long, and I think it will live even longer.
