season 1

season 3: I know everyone hates season 3, but it kinda worked for me. I can see why people dislike it though. However, the ending was horrible and I'll never get over it.

season 2: enjoyed it, but there were just too many things I didn't care for. Hated Zach, Summer was kinda unlikeable too at some points. The whole thing Sandy had going on with that criminal chick (Rebecca?) was also kind of annoying. Oh and Lindsay, ew. I liked the Marissa and Alex thing (it was kind cute) though. Also loved the episodes with Trey.

season 4: hated it.

Happiness does not seem to be on the menu.

I loved the first season. It had the best mix of comedy in drama. The second season was good, though it was a tad more serious. The second half was better than the first half and approached season 1 quality. Season 3 started okay but got too bleak. It lacked the humor and self awareness that set the show apart in the beginning. Season 4 was good, it leaned more towards comedy but that was welcome after the third season. I thought the show ended on a good note.

4 - I really, really looved season 4. I'm ranking it higher than 2 but I sort of missed Marissa and was nostalgic for the older, lighter tone of the show. But either way, I found it to be a great final season and it had pretty much everything I wanted. Ryan growing up, Summer growing up, Seth and Summer getting married, a new baby bringing the Cohen family closer together, Julie being wonderfully independent.

I thought season 4 had a few REAL dud episodes but apart from that I loved the dark tone and the the way the season 3 finale shook up all the characters. The season 4 Christmikkuh (sorry, didn't check spelling) episode is my favorite in the entire series too
