Are you f@#$ing kidding me

They were having a tom hands snooze fest as my xbox one was installing and I gotta say this is the stupidest movie I have ever seen. Like *beep* sorry Igor your country exploded and cancelled all visas all in your ten hour flight to the Big Apple ... But here's a few meal vouchers .. Buuuut the worst thing is all the good reviews from you people ... "awww its such a feel good story!"The only thing this bloody awful movie makes me feel is pain & misery .. gtfo

Exactly!! For the first ten minutes of this movie I was going crazy screaming at my tv that he doesn't understand a word they're saying, yet they continue yammering at him quickly and expect him to know what the frack they're talking about. It's idiotic.

And you kiss your mother with that mouth?

reply

She will kiss any mouth or oriface

reply

Yes! I just watched it and this was such a peeve for me also, they're talking to him like he knows English! I'll give you the 'can't find a translator' plot convenience.

But they say
'i understand you speak a little English'
Viktor: 'Uh yes' '

That said, i like the movie. It's a plot convenience filled ~feel good~ movie.

Realistically, wouldn't the first thing the US do is grant temporary 'can't go home' visas, with placement in accommodation.

This is a great movie. You obviously are retarded so it's best you dive back in the video games and live in your alternate reality.

reply

Well its hardly surprising that someone who considers Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to be a good film would find something like this crap.

Ashmi any question

LOL someone didn't understand that this movie is a HUGE satire against American bureaucracy.

reply

You do know that this movie is based on a true story that took place in the Paris airport.

The movie had great potential and could have been a great satire. But naturally since it's Spielberg that never happens. Instead it goes nowhere to the point that it becomes pointless.
But what did people expect? That's what happens when uncle cosy directs: no one gets offended, everyone is comfortable.

reply

Very loosely based. How does that make this a good movie? Oh wait, it doesn't.

Watched this movie last night for the first time since seeing it in the cinema first time around. Time has not been kind. I seem to recall there were a few of these really cringeworthy, unapologetic throwback rom-coms happening at that time. The setup is actually quite intriguing but the way it descends so rapidly into schmaltz is like watching a very slow plane crash.

Yeah, I haven't seen Always or 1941 so I can't say this is the worst Spielberg movie, but it is the worst Spielberg movie that I have seen, and I have seen Hook and the even numbered Indiana Jones movies.

reply

This movie was a reflection of all the paranoia and bigotry Americans showed for people from overseas after 9/11. We got narrow-minded and stupid like we do with all of our enemies.

Read the whole ping pong of dialogue in this section of the message boards and I have to say that I haven't laughed that much- my jaw is sore. Sure I came to read about this movie (which I liked) and interested in hearing other people's and reactions- but I hadn't expected this funny 'but not supposed to be' dialogue. Hopefully someday, someone will make a movie about the absurdities of message boards.

I hear ya!
