Throughout the film there are many references about fishes/fishing.

My guess is that he went fishing some time before the hit and run, and after that he weren't able to keep focus on things such as having a fish in the fridge. When the smell hit, he didn't even notice it.

shareReynolds was, among Trevor's co-workers, the one he was the closest to. They were friends at work, and outside too. Going fishing and such.
As Trevor is shown in the picture with Reynolds as being healthy and well-fed, and since the fish they show to have caught in the picture is revealed to be still in Trevor's freezer, we might assume that that fishing trip with Reynolds was Trevor's last day as a normal human being, before he ran over Nicholas. It may have even happened on the same day. That could be the reason why Trevor tries so hard to convince himself that he is not in the picture; remembering that fishing trip reminds him of what he did on that day.

Yes and this is why his memory was trying to erase Reynolds even though he was his friend. I also noticed a different reaction from Reynolds than the rest of the guys to his deterioration. More of a pained look.

shareWhat I meant is that the fishing trip and the accident might have happened on the same day. The picture could have come into Trevor's possession days or even weeks later, it's not relevant. My theory is that he sees the pic as a reminder of that fateful day.
Just a theory anyway, but definitely not improbable.

In any case, the photo really DOES turn out to be Stevie's ex... her future ex when she dumps Trevor for berating and threatening her.
Plus, Ivan >is< Trevor.
