is it her singing the ENTIRE TIME?

ok, so ill admit to not being the biggest fan, i do enjoy the movies as a guilty pleasure.

but....

ive heard her albums (hell i have a little sister, duh)

and she can't sing like most of that. her voice is breathy and she is an alto, any of the parts with soul or the HIGH SOPRANO is blatantly someone elses voice.

am i the only one who hears this?

I am watching it right now, which is what gave me the idea to come here on the board thing, and I can't stand it. I saw this movie when it came out in theaters, and I do not remember it being like, or at least don't remember noticing, but I should hope that I did. Gah. I mean, since then I've had some more voice training, but it was so long ago that I saw it I can't remember if it was that blatant in theaters ....It's really really terrible though. I mean, those songs are not good for her voice, if they were so set on Hilary Duff they should have picked better songs for her range! My personal choice would have been to kick her out altogether, cause I'm not a big fan, and that would have made this [maybe] in the running for my top 30 favorite movies. They still could have made this movie a 100 times better by suiting better songs to the actress. Gah.

I can take or leave Miss Duff. I have not always been uber impressed with her movies but that might be because she picks bad movies (like Mandy Moore).
But as it is it doesn't sound like her. Escept for the songs on her CD the rest of the singing Terri does sounds like a totally different girl and even that girl doesn't impress me that much. That too bad because I really was looking forward to this movie and they just cast some pop star instead of finding new talent. Or even someone like Emmy Rossum. I was really hoping the star would have some amazing voice like Hayley Westenra or early Charlotte Church. The bad casting made this Crossroads for the tween set. And I really wanted to like this movie.

um hilary sings the whole time - except the part where she is singing that high part in latin

just cos she cant reach high notes doesnt make her a bad singer

That and "la la la" part in her teacher's class (the "mid-term"). Her lip-synching is horrendous there.

I have heard the Haylie Duff rumor so much with no proof. I really don't think it sounds like Haylie at all, Haylie seems to have the same range as her sister and they sound almost the same. The vocals in the movie (that were not a part of Hlary's album) sounded like a totally different person. It sounded like a girl who had had some operatic training but possessed a weak voice and not that much raw talent and benefitted from the pro-tools.

I was just about to post about her "singing" bothers me... I mean seriously if she can't sing it all FIND SOMEONES VOICE WHO SOUNDS LIKE HERS! Like they had to do it in the lizzy mcguire movie too when she was singing for the awards.

for high school musical they found someones voice whose sounded like zac's and you couldnt even tell really. But hilary and this other voice sounds horrific together

Or they could at least have Hilary either lip-sync the whole time or sing the whole time. Not both because that was what made it obvious that she wasn't singing. Or better yet cast a girl who can actually sing (preferably one who wasn't promoting her latest pop CD). There must have been some unknown girl who could act and had an amazing singing voice. They should have tracked down Jayne Wisener or Emmy Rossum or something.
