is it her singing the ENTIRE TIME?

ok, so ill admit to not being the biggest fan, i do enjoy the movies as a guilty pleasure.

but....

ive heard her albums (hell i have a little sister, duh)

and she can't sing like most of that. her voice is breathy and she is an alto, any of the parts with soul or the HIGH SOPRANO is blatantly someone elses voice.

am i the only one who hears this?

reply

No way is that her singing the entire movie.
We all know Hilary Duff is a fake who can't sing.
Her voice definitely does not sound the way it does in the movie.

I can't think of a good signature.

reply

Ummmm get a life and stop criticising others, nobody is perfect.

reply

[deleted]

She is not a fake. She sings. Seen her live. Shut up.

reply

I am in my school choir, and she is NOT a singer. When she ends that "Midterm" part, her voice is so... whiney. It was painful to listen to that one part. When everyone cheered at the end of her solo, I was like why are they cheering, she sucked!

reply

[deleted]

it almost was, up until last minute production changes, Evan Rachael Wood was slotted to play Teri but dropped out after the chages were set in motion.
It's my personal belief that Evan would have done an amazing job with the role but i'm extremely biased because i love her so. :D

reply

That is not really hear voice in the movie but i mean in the competition it is her singing. But like in the classes you can tell that is not really her voice.

reply

I've been laughing at the people who are "in the school choir" and "take voice lessons". I was in an auditioned choir for a few years and from there I know a number of people who have gone on to become professionals. And with very few exceptions they don't feel the need to go around telling everyone else how terrible they are. It's not just bad manners, it's usually a give away that you think you have more talent than you really do.

reply

And you need to tell me this why? I don't think i have more talent than others.
But EVERYONE has more talent than Hilary Duff.

reply

Hilary Duff would be an other. You would be part of everyone. That would make a contradiction.

reply

Ok, yes i messed up. But why do you correct other's mistakes? What does that contribute? Is it going to stop terrorism? NO. SO STFU. NO ONE CARES!

reply

Why do you keep responding?

reply

[deleted]

dude shut up and get a life.

reply

Lindsay Lohan doesn't. So incorrect again.

I wonder if theyll read this & say that awkward moment when I wasted my life readin a signature. :\

reply

agreed!

reply

Yea, I agree. I mean, when she was singing Caro Mio Bien (The Italitan aira that her voice teacher had her sing) she sounded like she had the voice of a black woman. Sure, a white girl can have a voice like that, but Hilary doesn't. Personally, I don't think she sang any of it.

reply

there's no way that she sang all the parts herself and I tried to look in the credits carefully but a lot of the songs have no performer credited, just a "written by" acknowledgment. What sucked about this movie was that ALL the parts were re-recorded and lip-synced and it seemed like a total admission that the actors couldn't sing.
What sucked even worse were the errors made in putting it together- the song at the end had background vocals (no backing singers to be seen) and an electric guitar (the dude played an acoustic)and the synthesized strings were obvious but played by an orchestra! Do they think we're stupid?

The last movie I watched was: Superman Returns (but didn't really watch it)

reply

I think the really high stuff she didn't sing, but give her some credit! Caro Mio Bien isn't that high (i've sang it myself) and she ciould have very easily sang it herself. Just because she can't sing as high as some other people doesn't mean she's a crappy singer! She plays up her strengths well as an alto/2nd soprano on her cd's very nicely.

reply

Christ, everybody's sung caro. I despise that song. All voice students learn it. And for a hardcore alto, it can be difficult to sing, since it goes up to a high E. You can tell she doesn't truly sing it in the movie, since that voice is far different from anything on her CDs (which I've heard her sister Haylie dubs over when Hil's voice just isn't up to par). She has no strengths to play up. Her albums are complete crap.

"I'm the first pancake."
"What do you mean?"
"She's the one you're supposed to throw out."

reply

oh my gosh she sang caro mio bien so badly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! she sounded like a two year old!

reply

you know you guys have nothing nice to say about her. Hilary can sing fine she was only 16 she is in her 20's now then years later she will enter her 30's when you see her as a grown woman you will be really guilty you said bad thing's about her. i mean she will never replace pepole we had in the 80's like Hewy Liews and the news. Those days were good but we have to accept "We can't change the past" I mean i would love to go back and see those days again. Point is please accept Miss Duff who she is. And stop blaming her voice. Sue (her mom) worked really hard to accept her dauther. so stop basshing her like she is those pepole in those programs that do not have an indipendnce.

reply

she lip syncs the entire movie!!!

Patrick: Come on, I'm like, totally adorable.

reply

if u listen, u can tell which parts are hilary singin and which parts are not. like in the trills, the high notes are not her. reeally obviously lol

reply

i was going to say that.

you obviously know the parts she sings and the parts she doesn't.

Her sister HAYLIE DUFF is actually the one singing for her in certain parts, and its so clear and obvious the different voices the two have. Everytime Hilary is to sing infront of a teacher or her class, her sining voice switches between HER OWN and HER SISTERS...

Her sisters singing voice is also dubbed in about 6 lines in the song "What Dreams Are Made Of" from ''The Lizzie McGuire Movie''

reply

i KNEW it was someone.. i never realized it was her sister. though. i always thought they just computerized it or something. like a fake studio voice or something! thankkyou for finally clarifying that for me!

on another note: i am a vocalist and the least they couldve done for this movie is completely covered her voice. the movie was literally ruined by the vocals. im not saying she CANT sing, but theres nothing to it when she does. and by adding a different voice that isnt even close to hers distracted you from the rest of the movie. i liked the story line; although thin and predictable, it was a good movie for teenage girls. it ultimately wasnt bad especially when considering the demographic of this movie.

reply

I don't think it was Haylie. I saw her in Hairspray. She's an alto too. In fact she and Hilary are nearly identical in singing voices. There is no way she could be doing those arias.

reply

The fact that Hilary and Haylie sound so similar is probably the reason Haylie was chosen to do the dubbed singing. There IS a difference between them: Haylie can actually sing. Her voice is smooth and airy, Hilary's is strained and nasally. You can hear the differences in their cover song "Our Lips Are Sealed".

reply

it was her singing the last song , and she did a good job , with the singing and acting;

reply

We're talking about the parts where it's obvious Hilary isn't the one singing, like in the "midterm exam".

reply

But Haylie still cannot do arias. She doesn't have the voice for it, sorry.

reply

Honestly. How could you NOT tell that Hilary lip synced? It's so painfully obvious. The high singing did not sound like her voice at all!
How long till this goes away?

reply

Ofcoarse its lip synched in the movie , for better sound , she sings live at her concerts , she can sing.

reply

ok.. i love hil, but when i took one of my friends little sisters with me to a hilary concert...she lip synced the entire show. that doesn't bother me...most stars lipsync. I think hil has a good voice, not groundbreaking, but she can carry a nice tune. i personally love her cds and think she has a sweet voice, ppl need to back off, hilary is an entertainer with good, solid pop tunes, she's no christina or whitney as far as vocal range, but then again, she's not supposed to be.

reply

well if she's so bad why aren't u guys one of Hollywoods hottest, richest and biggest stars???

reply

What's the point of doing a movie about a girl who wants to be a singer when the girl can't sing?? I mean, at all!!?? I think it's a suicide movie for Hilary. I don't hate her but I decided not to buy any of her products involved singing. The best struggling singer movie I ve ever seen was,"Selena". I found that convincing and J-Lo really has "CHARISMA". Anyway, Raise your voice lost me since "she" started to talk, what kind of voice is that? Oh, and not to mention she's the only blonde in the family and all the guys seem to like her all at once, that was so surreal. Well, I will never watch it again..I mean ever...

reply

you are all complete idiots you think thats her voice. The dimness of you all

reply

It pissed me off in the scene when she shows off in her class doing a solo, like *beep* hell thats her voice, its so fake, holy *beep* and the things that pisses me of if its another persons voice, they dont eve get credit for it *beep* it makes me so mad, like someone else ehre said, why ake a movie about wanting to sing if ou CANT haha

reply

I don't think it's her voice the whole time dosen't matter she can't sing or act.

reply

its her voice alot of the songs r on her hilary duff album jerricho , someones watching over me and flyyy!

"she is NOT an actor"

reply

reply

The only song she sings all by herself is the last song.

reply

No, its her voice, she released the song on an album, with no recognition of another singer. It is definitely her singing. Has it ever occured to you that she might have got better (if that was possible)

reply

are u all so beepin sad that u have nothing better to do than dis her shes a gd singer and its her singin in all the movies shes done where she has to sing i mean honestly do u lot have no brains or something sorry i didnt mean to offend anyone but i am very passionate about my points of view

reply

I don't know why Hilary Duff was cast in this movie. I have nothing against her, I mean Lizzie McGuire was a great movie. But, it's just her voice sounds so distant and processed when she sings the songs. The other actors singing sounds normal, but not Hilary's. I just don't know why they would bother casting her if they had to filter her voice. The movie is supposed to be about someone who can sing really really well. Hilary Duff is extremely mediocre. Why not cast someone who can actually sing?

reply

I just saw this movie for the first time while babysitting today, and I just have to say I ROFLed when Hilary Duff's brother in the movie says something along the lines of, "you have the best voice I've ever heard."

I don't know or care if it's her singing the entire time because honestly, even if someone with a better voice dubbed for her it wasn't very good anyways.

reply

Omg.. are you an idiot?!

It is NOT her singing the whole time.. it is BLATANTLY obvious when it IS her voice and when it ISN'T.

Oh I'm sorry...
you must be deaf.

I take voice lessons and I know that this girl really doesn't have the best voice.. yes, she can sing SOMEWHAT.. but her range sucks.

reply

Just because she released an album don't mean she can actually sing. Albums are pretty much always tweaked so that the artist sounds nothing like what they sounded like in the recording studio.

I'm pretty sure I could sound good on an album if I had loads of money and a recording studio and I have the worst singing voice.

reply

in her "breakout" solo thing halfway through the movie (during class) you can clearly hear they cut from her to another singer then back to her. Its not her singing some of the time. Most of the time its her though

reply

of course not, but when she does actually sing- she needs to DROP HER FREAKING JAW. jesus she is so whiney

reply

Haha. Honestly! She sounds so fake. BTW...on the whole "Why aren't you rich and famous" rant by the poster above--I may not be rich and famous, but I know the difference between a good singer/actor and a bad singer/actor. It does not take a rich and famous person to point out flaws (Yet American Idol pays Simon Cawell to do that!) It doesn't matter if I have talent in singing or acting, I can still point out that I don't like her voice or acting skills. As an American consumer, I have the right to reject or accept any artist or actor and their products. That is why I and anyone else is allowed to criticize Hilary Duff.

How long till this goes away?

reply

I'm glad other people hear her voice change too. When she's trying out in front of the class for that solo, it's like two different people are signing. I mean, she does have a good voice, the one that does the low notes. But the incredibly high ones are obviously not her, and they did a very poor transition between the two parts. I mean, if you're going to do a role where you have to sing high notes, and you're so terrible they have to do voice overs, then why even try out in the first place? Hilary, you are a moron.

reply

Um, half the time it sounds like completely fake and computerized. Does anyone else think it was like synthesized or something? Especially when she stands up in class and sings, it sounded so fake and I don't know anyone who sings and sounds so fake. Noone sings like that. Did you notice the difference between when she sang and the guy sang on the piano. He sounded like an actual person singing, she sounded like some fake, computer-made voiceish thingy.

reply

I agree scissorhands__emily.

I think Hilary sang and recorded it, but it was heavily synthesized, or at leats that's how it sounds to me. But I really think we're all thinking about this a bit too much, it's a movie so we should really just enjoy it instead of analysing it so much (myself included lol) peace :)

Hilary is cool :)
