shareI couldn't find the DVD to rent so I took a risk and bought the DVD. I was pleasently surprised. That was a refreshing look and enjoyed the film. Spartacus seemed more real in this film. Goran, Angus and the rest of the cast I felt did a wonderful job. I enjoyed reading all your reviews of the film. I finally got to see it!
shareMy one thought is that there's no reason to have made this. A lower budget required too many close-ups. For me, Goran looks too stylised (pretty) to be the character of Spartacus. There was something about the delivery of his lines that made me uncomfortable. It sounded forced, which made me think he wasn't an actor to begin with. Then I saw him in Elektra and he talked perfectly fine there. very odd. I'm giving the second part a miss.
shareIt was a decent film; nice well rounded acting and obviously living off a great and intriguing story.
I found the inaccuracies a tad annoying. Basic errors, such as where Sir Allan Bates got in a huff about duel Consulship, which didn’t make any sense because there had always been two consuls elected to office to be a stop on one another. While the battle scenes could have been better choreographed. But then Gladiator falls down in that area too. The costumes weren’t brilliant either. However, as I said at the start, the decent acting and the story pulled my attention through this.

i also really really loved this movie... i thought it was very well done. true it was not as proffesional as some movies you see these days, but with the budget that they had i thought they did extremely well
i especially love the relationship between varinia and spartacus... theyre chemistry was just so amazing!
overall a really enjoyable movie
