Did Kevin Bacon deserve an oscar nod for this ?

I personally feel that Kevin Bacon was overlooked in this film and was far better than Ryan Gosling in Half Nelson. I don't feel he deserved to win because Forest Whitaker was phenomenal in The Last King of Scotland.Like I say these are all my opinions it would be intresting to hear yours.

One of the best performances of the decade in my humble opinion, pity the Oscars are so conservative and political that he didn't get recognition.

This was 2 years before Half Nelson and The Last King of Scotland. Don't understand how this is relevant.

He certainly "brang home the bacon" with this role.

If you'll pardon my French.

Yes, this is one of the greatest performances of all time.

Yes! It's some of his best work lacking a single false note.

Absolutely. This is a criminally underrated and overlooked performance. Best acting he's ever done by far.

I agree with you completely. His performance was outstanding. It's a real shame he didn't get a nomination.

reply

Seen two of the five nominated performances and Bacon was incomparably better than either Depp or (the woefully miscast and unconvincing) Di Caprio.
