Painfully underrated

Not like IMDB ratings really matter (look at Deadpool). 7.2? Good lord. Is it because you had to sit in one spot for 3 hours?

A true passion project from Mr. Jackson. Still shead a tear when Kong slips off the building.

I agree.

Although i do agree with certain critics this movie as a whole is underrated as it has been creeping down the rating as i remember it being 7.4 a few year ago and 7.3 last year and now 7.2 I belive it should be at least 7.5 at a minimum. It is a successful movie though, it did win 3 oscars.

Agreed. Think this tops most of his middle earth movies, but I'm often in the minority.

I agree entirely. People are very quick to judge unfortunately and lost don't fathom what good cinema is.
I loved this movie and it really made the viewer sympathetic for Kong in the end. He was a character after all. I didn't honestly feel like the movie was too long. I felt it was fine in getting the story across.

Kong 2005 is OVERRATED as hell. The movie is pure garbage.

reply

how can a movie be over-rated if no one liked it to begin with?

reply

I enjoyed this film. Sadly underrated :(

I agree with the OP. This movie is great. Saw it twice in theaters. Kong is one of the most realistic looking CGI characters ever put on screen. If you told me they filmed a real gorilla I would probably believe you. Also you make a great point, I always get a bit choked up when Kong is shot to death and slides off the top of the Empire State Building. Fantastic movie with brilliant special effects (aside from the somewhat cartoon-like Bronto stampede)

I also agree. I just re-watched this yesterday on blue-ray and I still love it.
