maybe because i am ENGLISH ( i agree with sam d 2, we are 4 countries) i dont notice all the slang and accents. can the people who do please point it out to me because i fully understand the whole thing.
this may also seem totally off the point but i love the way that americans use different words for the same things. e.g. faucet=tap (spelling?) as part of a stupid quiz at school we had a section on american words, and its amazing how many words have been changed/adapted to suit the american side of english.
and btw, no one has screwed the language up, everyone just has their own take on things. im a sucker when it comes to accents and naturally end up talking the same way as the person im talking to. i cant put on an accent when someone asks me to but i just pick it up when i spend a lot of time with someone, probably because ive moved around so much, so i dont really find it difficult understanding any accent!
