Other movies about incest... (some spoilers possible)

***UPDATED 5/11/2009***

Here is a list I put together myself, the ratings are all mine, and therefore subjective.

First, there are some spoilers within, however minor some may be...
Second, incest — in real life — is NOT sensual, or sexy, or beautiful, it is ugly and horrid and about taking power away from the victim. However, since it is a taboo — in *film* — it can be sensual and tender. To all incest victims, please take no offense in this, it is a list about *film* only, and in no way minimizes your ordeal.

That being said...

* Stars are for the quality of the film [0 = none]
+ Pluses are given for the sensuality (not explicitness) of the incest

**** ++ Lone Star - brother and sister (consummated on screen)
* ++++ Amityville II - The Possession - brother and sister (very sensual, on screen kissing, nudity, and flirting)

There are others, especially (for instance) Star Wars (5, 6 and 7) Luke and Leia. I skipped this, and others because they offer no real on-screen insight or passion.

Can you name others?

The Dreamers is amazing

agreed.

Imaginary Heroes - kiss between two best friends who turn out to be half brothers towards the end of the film.

Brothers of the Head - kiss between two twin brothers.

both are HAWT, btw.

The kiss in Brothers of the Head totally caught me off guard, especially when you think of the fact that besides playing twins, they are actually twin brothers in real life. Good performances by both Luke and Harry Treadaway in that film though.

Haha, and I agree with your comment about Imaginary Heroes. It's probably one of the best make-out scenes I've ever seen on film, although when I found out about how they're related, I was like CRAP. I mean, what are the odds, huh? Fantastic movie still though.

You know I'm trying to remember a film that starred a brother and sister actors who came out as a couple in a film. It was the actress first on screen kiss and sex (not sure) and their mother made sure that her brother would be her first on screen. I'm trying to remember the actor and actresses name, I remember the story because I saw the film and was curious about the actor so read a bit about him.

Does anyone remember the name of the actors and film thy came out in? My memory is very fuzzy on the details.

There was another film 'Excalibur' where the director had his daughter play Igrayne and he filmed her character's first sex and nude scene.

Alexander (the one with Colin Farrell) Mother + Son (very lightly implied/subtext).

Clueless (ex step brother and step sister) (flirting/kissing/dating).

Ginger Snaps (sister + sister) (Randomly brought up in a argument, and one-sided).

House of wax (brother + sister)(suspicious and light subtext).

Girl, interrupted (father + daughter) (mention of incestuous rape/abuse).

Scarface (sister + brother) (suspicious and light subtext/flirting).

Wonder why no one has mentioned 'U Turn' with Sean Penn and Jennifer Lopez. It's an offbeat film that contains a father/daughter flashback.

reply

I had forgotten about that one. Twisted film.

@BladerunnerA If you're still compiling your list for research purposes or what ever, have you read the book of 'flowers in the attic'? (V. C Andrews) It's really good and explains in better detail why the children were treated that way, and has the consummation of the elder two children's relationship, which is only hinted at in the film. Most of her books do have incest themes in them, but you can skip the 'new v.c Andrews' as they are done by a ghost writer, and those seemed to have incest / rape scenes in just for the sake of having them, not for character development or anything like that.

was also going to add 'Valerie's week of wonders' to the list... that one has.. grandmother and (possible) son-in-law who may also be Valerie's father - milder sex scene
Valerie and the bishop/vampire bloke (said to be her father in the film) - kiss
Valerie and Orlik (who may be her brother according to grandmother, but orlik always says the bishop is his uncle)- kiss

it's a very beautiful but confusing film... and I've read the book too! it also has vampires, magic, secret rooms, lots of pretty landscapes, invisible 3-way(?) and lots of gothic literature references. and a pedo priest. and dead chickens.

having to post as replies as the end of the thread has been eaten by deleted comments.

Thanks for info on Valarie's Week of Wonders, I hadn't heard of that. As far as Flowers in the Attic, yes, I was aware of the fact that the book was way more explicit than the movie.

I add to the list as I find out more information. I recently found a resource on the web that is frankly amazing. The information there is exhaustive, although some biggies (like Kuss Der Meiner Schwester and Syskonsalt are missing). It is an incest film wiki, pretty much maintained by one person (which may be the reason some well-known films are missing). I've added some info there, but this person has films broken down by scene, time, duration and description which can be very time consuming, thus my edits so far as sparse. Here is the addy:
