So eating fish is OK

I was glad to see a realistic treatment of carnivorism in a kids' movie for once -- but that the "solution" was for Alex to start eating fish ?! No, that only works because the filmmakers chose not to anthropomorphize them the way they did all the other animals. There could just as easily have been fish characters in this movie who'd object to being eaten every bit as much as the other animals. Something to think about.

This is a stupid post. He alligator ate the baby duck, the squirrel thing by the hawk, not to mention who gives a crap. I can't believe that is what you took from the movie.

Dammit, contrary to what the Nemo sharks say, FISH R FOOOOOD!! They're the apples of the ocean, the grapes of the lake, raisins of the flippin river!! If I had to live of the the land, the only protein I could muster up the courage to kill, gut, cook and eat is a...FISH! Dammit!

The way carnivorism is usually treated in movies with talking animals is that the predatory animal only eats animals he/she doesn't know personally.

to the people saying he should have eat the foosa - so eating them is right because they look dumb and mean ? or cause they are eating other anthropomorphized animals?

if the latter, there would be no difference between Alex and the foosa, if the former, thats just as stupid as him eating fish.. but making the foosa the bad guys, so they are ok to eat would be even more dumbed down that selecting a kind of animal which made to look less sentient that the rest.

so I guess this was as realistic it can get for a kids movie.
