What if Die Hard 4.0 (Live Free or Die Hard) is actually an alternative story to the Matrix?

What if Matt Farrell is actually Neo and Die Hard 4.0 presents an alternative version of the Matrix if Trinity had never managed to contact him. Both Matt and Neo live pretty much the same life at the start of the movie and their apartments even look very similar (though we never actually learn what Matt's day job is AFAIK.)

Due to a series of computer outages the FBI (agents) attempt to arrest all the known computer hackers presumably in order to find Morpheus, Trinity, etc. In the Matrix we know that Morpheus wants to wake up as many people from the Matrix as possible, what if the power outages are actually Morpheus and his team attempting to hack into the Matrix and shut down the power and infrastructure in order to wake people up? The FBI assumes Matt is involved due to his connections with other hackers. In the Matrix it's heavily suggested that the agents are already aware of Neo's potential and keep tabs on him. Since the agents aren't 100% sure that Matt is involved with Morpheus they send a human cop (John McClane) in order not to raise suspicion.

In Die Hard it's revealed that the hackers' actual target is the financial sector. This could either be a lie constructed by the agents in order to get John and Matt to help them stop Morpheus- makes sense to use Neo (Morpehus's greatest potential weapon) against him. OR it could be that Gabriel is actually a character like Cypher and that the agents are using him to sabotage Morpheus's plan. Perhaps they tell him that instead of hacking the power system to shut down the Matrix, they will let him steal as much money as he can without consequence as long as he gives them Morpheus. They also ask him to attempt to assassinate Matt at the start of the movie.

It also seems in the movie that John McClane has some small amount of ability to bend the rules of the Matrix- this can be seen in the various action scenes such as "you just killed a helicopter with a car". This could either mean that:

he is actually an agent

he is an agent but doesn't actually know it

(my favorite theory) he is so world-weary and has so little interest in life that he is more lucid than the others in the Matrix. He is so bitter that he seemingly doesn't want to accept the world that he lives in and that apathy actually means he is able to bend the rules of the Matrix without knowing it or intending to.
