the filmmakers have something new to explain in part 5

Let me just start by saying I LOVED THIS MOVIE!!!!! It is so much better than 3 and kicks the crap out of the tv series. But by showing Burt's great grandfather Hiram settling in Perfection in 1889 it does now create a continuity error with something Michael Gross said in the first movie. With regards to the town Burt says "That's why Heather and I settled here in the first place. Geographic isolation." So now I think they're going to have to make Tremors 5 to established that Burt settled in what is, in fact, the old Gummer family homestead. So, anyone have a problem with the thought of a Tremors 5 to rectify this situation? I didn't think so.

They don't really have to explain if they do not want to. Hiram is Burt's great grandfather. It makes sense that his grandfather, or maybe even father, may have moved from Rejection/Perfection. It would explain how Burt heard of the place, like from an old story from his grandfather or father, and why it intriqued him.

Wait, are you saying they ARE going to make a Tremors 5 or are you saying IF they make a pt.5?

He says that he thinks that there will be a movie made called "Tremors 5."

In the commentary, S.S. Wilson said there would be a possibility that there
would be a Tremors 5. I'd welcome it.

Honestly, does anyone care about a continuity error in a cult sci-fi film series? They don't seem to mind the rampant continuity errors in the (arguably) most famed cult movie series, Evil Dead. I liked this movie too, methinks the best is either the original or the second (man it was fun).

P.S. What's that gun called that the Asian lady had? The 8-gauge shotgun that seemed oddly underpowered?

I got word of a possible part 5 called Tremors 5: The Next Mutation. I don't know where I heard it but as far as I Know it's in production and will be released in 2006 sometime or even 2007. also Brent Maddock and S.S. Wilson are coming back to direct this last one in the Saga of Tremors. Just think....
Tremors (1990)
Tremors 2: Aftershocks (1996)
Tremors 3: Back To Perfection (2001)
Tremors 4: The Legend Begins (2004)
Tremors 5: The Next Mutation (2006 or 2007)

I'd welcome a part 5...but please...don't EVER say part 4 was anything close to good..cause it's so bad I have problems understanding how it ever got made.
Please..I hope that they actually try to come up with a plot the next time. And maybe an original idea of some sort...god..so..crap...

Well the derringer line was only a joke. A "derringer" is a small gun used for concealed carry at the time. Even now guns are made in derringer size so they can be concealed carried easily.

Anyhow the 8-gauge hand held shotgun (I believe it's called a Mark 23) didn't actually exist at the time, but a gunmaker of the error could have probably made one if he wanted to.

In any case, a T5 would be great.

It's a Remington Mark III and it's actually a flare gun; I guess they pretended it was a shotgun: http://www.imfdb.org/wiki/Tremors_4:_The_Legend_Begins#Remington_Mark_III

I have heard that tremors 5 may take place in las vegas that may be just be a rumor though but they were talking about selling that flying worm to i bleave it was sigfreed and roy n vegas and if they really do that then should set up part 5. Burt of course would come to vegas n try to hunt it down after it escapes and breeds which i am sure it will do. This may make a good movie i am not sure this what there r gonna do though they may do something diffrent but vegas does seem like it could be a cool idea.

you know how in 1889 there were settlers there? but on No.1,2,3 it says on the sighn, town of perfection, founded in 1902. i wonder if they noticed that?.

The continuity problem of Burt and Hiram is extremely easy to explain away and therefore isn't a problem. As stated earlier, it should just be a fact (without explanation) that Burt new of the land he owned there passed down by Hiram and so, he settles there. The quote that Burt says does not in any way create a continutity problem of any kind. There could probably be some back story (possibly in Tremors 5) to this as to why he setteled there, but it doesn't mean he got there before Hiram. All he said was, we settled here for "blah" reason. Which doesn't mean much except they moved there from somewhere else. There is no story in that one sentance he says. I don't remeber though as to how much might have been said in 2 or 3, but I doubt they would try to go this route if they had already locked the story up with Burt setteling there before Hiram. Then, who cares anyway. The series is still great fun.

The 1889 / 1902 thing,
Rejection was founded at some point when the mine was probably first found and started. It may have had another name before that or not existed at all, but who cares. Perfection may have been changed in 1889 but not legaly recognized till 1902. So, that would explain that.

These are both very very minor things that are in no way continuity problems.

As for setting things up in Vegas. That's just a bad idea.
Yes, they are drawn to noise, but, it's the sand of the desert that they move through easily, there is too much concrete in any major town or city, let alone Vegas for a Graboid to bust through. They are strong, but not that strong.
(side note: Although as stated below, they could mutate into concrete melters or very strong creatures. But then not even large boulders, which is thier Kryptonite, could stop them. Taking away the use of boulders as a safety net is like making Chucky human again, just ain't gonna work.)

Some of you have to understand a few things.
This series is stupid from the start. It's a great monster story though.
So, an Ass Blaster is not all that far fetched or out of context.
These things aren't the smartest things in the world, but they aren't exactly stupid either. They are simple minded creatures that are always hungry.
They try to adapt, but always come up just short of remarkable which makes them dangerous but not terribly difficult to kill.

The area of Rejection/Perfection is thier stomping grounds. Even if they mutate, and are able to leave, they shouldn't. Kind of like an old prisoner who doesn't want to leave prison. It's all they know, it's where they are comfortable.

That is what makes this series great. That and Mike Gross.
They can't lose him in this series unless he is killed off. And he is too frigin crazy to be killed off. He is as important to the series as the graboids, or Brad Dourif is to Child's Play.

Tremors 4 is not as good as 1 or 2, I don't remember much of 3 right now, but I liked 4. The movie has action, it is set at a nice pace, no real bad boring parts. If you like the Tremors series, then watch this and don't expect a whole lot. In other words, shut up, turn off your brain and watch the d*mn movie. Then you will be entertained. After reviewing the movie a bit, I give it a 3 of 5 or, 7 of 10. It's a good movie for Tremors fans.

Hollywood is an overworked wHore that needs to be sent out to pasture.

reply

If they are really going to make a Tremors 5, then they need to keep Michael Gross in the series. He pretty much is the #1 thing that makes these films as great as they are. How about in Tremors 5, if they attack the theme park that Grady and Earl have? That would also leave open the possibility to bring Fred Ward back into the series as well.

What about the Chang family?
Obviously the writers intended the Chang family to be the ancestors of Walter Chang, who owns the town store in T1, which looks a lot like the Chang's Market in T4. The problem is: Walter has a Chinese accent. Sure Chang is not an uncommon name, but come on.
Yeah okay so maybe when he was very young, his mother left his father in Perfection, went to China, raised Walter (American name), then later in life Walter inherits his father's store in America.
That's what the writers wanted to put across via the actors... OR... they just.. didn't.. care!

We come into this world naked, screaming, and covered in blood. Why should the fun end there?

reply

Or Walter had one parent who was from China. What's hard to get about that? His Mother (or father) married someone who was actually from China and the kid talks like the parent with the accent. Perhaps he even spent some time in China with the Chinese family while growing up.
