I was enjoying this movie until Natalie Portman showed up

JFC she's annoying and unlikeable in this. Seriously--are we supposed to be rooting for the dude to get with her?? I just want to smack her in the face every time she says the word "like" or apologizes for something (which means I'd be constantly smacking her). Why did the writer/director make her character so goddamn obnoxious and unlikeable!? I'm about to turn the movie off at the half-way point because of her which sucks because up until now I was enjoying it.
