Are Christians actually like that?

As another poster has already stated, it's mostly just a humorous exaggeration but I'd say that some of the more pushy Christians are quite like this or at least have the tendency to be.

I did not go to a Christian school, but I was a very active Pentacostal in high school (which I attended when this movie was made), and Christians are just like this, Sure, they are slightly exaggerated, but really not much. I swear I knew every one of these characters in high school (a lot of kids at my church went to my school.)

It is an over exaggerated parody of fundamentalists. So to an extent it somewhat loosely represents a very minor percentage of Christians but it does not represent the majority.

Yes, they are. This movie is a satire which holds a mirror up to many Christians. They can see themselves as the rest of the world sees them. What the rest of the world sees is hubris masquerading as humility.
