Why does almost everybody hate Marina?

You can say all you want, but I think if she was around for more than one season she would have more followers.

She "lied" to Jenny and made her fall in love with her having Francesca in her life and knowing that Jenny had a boyfriend. She also played Tim (who was no saint and was aggressive towards her). It was bad, but Jenny was not forced into doing anything. There were characters that did worst things and almost everybody likes them. Bette cheated on Tina, Shane cheated on Carmen and left her on the day of their marriage, Dana left Alice for Lara (she went on a "date" with Lara when she was with Alice). I love them anyway.

Marina had things that made her a great character, and I was sad that she left the show. The accent was sexy, she was elegant, intellectual and very friendly. She was a predator, different than Shane, she brought another perspective to the show. She was dependent from others (Francesca, her husband),her life was a mess, and that could lead to an interesting storyline. I loved her conversations with Jenny. They were a good couple, that was separated too soon.

I think that if Marina stayed for more than one season, almost everybody would love her.

"Forget about the idiots, they are going to see what they want to see."

Marina's attitude was so cold. She smiled in Tim's face while sleeping with his fiance, ate dinner at his house, smirked when he almost caught her having sex with Jenny and when he confronted her she taunted him. Tim had his faults, but he'd been nice to Marina and she knew he was madly in love with Jenny and had treated her like a princess. He didn't deserve that and her actions were awful (and yes Jenny's were as well).

At least Dana and Bette felt bad about hurting their partners. Shane wasn't a very nice person, but she never went as far as being amused by hurting people.

Marina was entertaining, but she wasn't nice.

This is how I feel as well. Tim treated Jenny with nothing but respect and love prior to walking in on her getting it on with Marina.

And what the OP calls aggression on Tim's part is really not: The dude was remarkably composed and restrained when he walked in on Jenny and Marina, and he was clearly holding himself back when he spoke to Marina afterward. Yeah, he gripped her wrists hard AFTER she mocked him, lied to him, and backstabbed him, but that's incredibly tame compared to what Tim might do if it were a guy having sex with Jenny.

Agree, and when she went to Jenny after and said 'He came to show me how much you mean to him' or whatever she said and held out her wrists acting as if he had beaten her or something, Marina was just manipulative full stop. It's a shame they wrote her off as they did because it was kinda a crappy exit and I felt they never really closed that chapter properly, but she was a bitch.

I hated Marina for many reasons. She had NO redeeming qualities to me.

1. She knew Jenny was in a relationship and pursued her anyway. Yes, two to tango, I hate Jenny too... in fact, I despised Jenny from day 1 and never liked her. Great performance, but yeah, her character was a self-involved brat. Anyway, back to Marina...

2. Then continues the affair for a while, flaunting it and never apologizing or even feeling bad for the people she's hurting by doing it. She even seemed proud.

3. Every interaction with Tim was manipulative and sick. Either she was flirting with him to get at Jenny or she was rubbing the affair in his face, metaphorically laughing at him for being a cuckold. It was awful.

4. Then it turns out she was in one of her own col relationships, great, which she neglected to share with Jenny.

5. Then her manipulative suicide attempt... okay.

I enjoyed watching her just because she was beautiful and interesting, but yeah, I hated her and kept waiting for her to get what was coming to her. I didn't even really see her being a good friend. Ugh.
