This will probably make some people angry, but . . .

I keep on hearing people say how "beautiful" Diane Lane, is but I just don't see it. I think she's an attractive woman, but she always seems to look a little tired and worn and appears older than 38, at least to me. But she is a very good actress.

Well, I guess that beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

I suppose it depends on how you describe beauty. If you are looking only at the face/body then yes, she is somewhat simple. I think her beauty comes from something inside. The spark in her eye. BESIDES...anyone can be beautiful in this day and age, if you have enough money and the right plastic surgeon!

It's true.. she's very pretty/attractive or whatever, but she's not drop dead gorgeous and she does kinda look like age is catching her..

I think she looks like a apple picking mama.

She takes the chemicals from outbound gushing militant fire and turns it into something palpable, something beatuiful, something alive and wriggling like fresh water coming down from the mountain.

how does she do that?

Please dont ask me to look at you, is this all you have to give?

reply

I think she is a very beautiful, very attractive, extremely good actress. She really knows what acting is about. She has beautiful eyes and a lovely smile. She looks better than other actresses of her age. She doesn't need plastic surgery to look good.

I give Diane credit for allowing herself to be made to look how she felt after her divorce. She was worn out and betrayed and looked it. But how could you not say beautiful. When she goes to Positano in that white dress and at the wedding Wow..she is so beautiful. Even if she was not beautiful what a very talented lady.

I totally agree. I think her "hagard" look is part of the role. Early on where she's to busy being heart broke to care, she does look a bit rough. But as time goes on; especially that white dress when she goes to see Marcello, she is dazalling. And in the final scene at the wedding reception, where she has, as Martini so poetically points out, everything she wished for and no man in sight...she is stunning. I want to know the name of her hair color, so the next time I get my roots done, I know what to ask for.

Have you seen "The Outsiders"? I thought she was gorgeous in that movie. So what if she was in her teens. The fact that she looks tired in her movies can be attributed to the characters that she plays...they're usually divorcees or ones dealing with severe emotional issues. I give her a lot of credit for what she's done; she makes it look realistic as opposed to choosing vanity like a ton of other actresses!
By the way, does anybody know about her and the alleged abusive relationship with Josh Brolin? I don't know if it's true or not...
