Am I The Only One.....?

I am I the only one that wished Frances could've ended up with Senior Martini? Vincent was so handsome and charming in this movie!

..I was wondering...Why I'm so lucky. Why I should find you waiting for me to come along.

When they first met I assumed they would end up together, but then we know later on he is married, then there is the scene where we see him with his wife & children, so then I was hoping they wouldn't go that route.

It was nice to see their professional relationship blossom from a realtor/buyer to a real friendship...

I wanted her to as well, but I'm glad they didn't. They were both good people and therefore they put their morals and the wellbeing of Martini's wife and child above their own selfish interests. The whole reason Frances moved to Tuscany was because her scumbag husband cheated on her. She would never do that to somebody else because she knew firsthand how much it hurt. It bites the big one when you meet someone who is perfect for you in every way except for their loving spouse and children, but as a decent human being you just have to suck it up and move on with your life. Unless you're Kristen Stewart and look what happened there!!

The mirror... it's broken.
Yes, I know. I like it that way. Makes me look the way I feel.

They should have staged a car accident (highly likely in Italy)and she could have ended up with him and his children.
That's what she stated she wanted, husband and children.
He sauid he would of had made love to her but wouldn't cheat on his wife.
Two tragic figures finding fresh life together.
Pass the chocolates.

You think the story would have had her end up with a guy her age? Hardly.
This is the 2000s.
She's coming off being ditched by her husband.
The film needed to portray her as being still "desirable" and this is why almost everyone who came across her path, chased her through the streets of Rome and ended up bedding her were young studs.
Even the guy at the end, another younger man.
Totally contrived from start to finish.

The real Frances Mayes is married to a man named Ed.

reply

Yes, and in the book, she was already involved with him when she bought the house (but not married to him). Of course they changed that so they could have a romance in the movie, but it was very cheesy.

I think yearning is delicious.

What's it going to be then, eh?
