A rehash of Quatermass and the Pit

Although there are a number of "influences" apparent in this film, the most obvious, to me, is "Quatermass and the Pit", which I remember seing on British TV in the '50s, and I have on a "treasured" VHS tape, which I hope to get transferred to DVD, so that my sons can enjoy it, in its original form.

Definitely. I spotted that too. Quatermass was really seriously scary at the time though, plus no-one in that film was quite as clueless as the "scientists" in this one.

I used to want to change the world. Now I just want to leave the room with a little dignity.

Are you talking about the 1958 miniseries version of "Quatermass and the Pit" or the 1967 movie that was renamed "Five Million Years to Earth"? Or either?
