I always thought they were setting up for a sequel
.when the animals looked at the map and their area was marked "future Developement" Meaning the next movie would involve them losing their woods altogether.
Merry Christmas ya filthy animal

It was great, I loved it but WHAT could they do for a sequel ? Unless they have a good (and that means good, not far-fetched like the animals get sipped off to Nigeria or something) story idea then what is the point ? It's just exploiting these excelelnt characters for money.
I also think Over the Hedge is at a disadvantage for Sequel-making because it was so good, everything that they could have done with these characers WAS done in it (the first one).
Wasn't this a comic strip? I am sure they could find something from all the comics they did. Family films are usually the most successful films. Thing is I think too much time as elapsed for a sequel to happen.
shareYeah, as much as I liked the film, they really should just leave it. Six/seven years is too long for an Over the Hedge sequel, (I could have said "too much time for animated movie to have a sequel" but then people would say "Oh, Toy Story 3 you dumbass." )
Anyway, Ace Ventura is what deserves a revisit, maybe even A Bug's Life, but Over the Hedge I realise it should just be left alone.
I do! But Its been 6 years now since it came out, frankly I am a little disappointed.

I want one.
Those boobs are fake.
Am I the only one who found this way too violent, especially for a children's movie? And it wasn't the RoadRunner v. Coyote with Acme this and that where you knew they were going to be OK so you could laugh. All the things in the backyard were made to kill and mutilate the animals we've come to know and love.
shareI would love to see a sequel of Over the Hedge. That movie was released at the end of the housing bubble, when new homes were going up everywhere. Now, you don't see the urban sprawl in Middle America like you did seven years ago. Maybe they could do an Over The Hedge 2 in a contracted economy, with half the homes in the subdivision bearing foreclosure placards and the animals start bringing food to near by tent communities. Just sayin'.
