Ben Stiller’s character

Did anyone else dislike his character? Why was he such a douche? Throughout the entire thing it was said how him and Jack Black are best friends but he never gave that impression. Like it was a one sided friendship. When Jack gets rich it never seemed like Ben Stiller was happy for him, but was just mad and jealous.

And the scene with him shooting the horse has to be one of the dumbest things I’ve seen. We get it, Ben Stiller thought that Jack Black would have cut him from being his partner but there was nothing to suggest that- since Black came across as incredibly nice and just wanted to stay close with his “best friend”. Maybe if the roles were reversed, as in it would have been something Ben Stiller would have done to Jack Black. Maybe the problem was that Jack Black was too nice and not cocky enough.
