Naomi Watts MAKES this movie.

I am yet to see Mulholland Drive but Naomi Watts was earth-shattering in this! She was so beautiful to watch as playing Cristina she gave one of the truly great portrayals of loss and depression.
The scene where her character gets the bad news feels so realistic and heartbreaking. It should be used as a reference for all actresses with a scene like that, and should definitely have been her Oscar clip instead of the "I'm suffocating!!!" scene which didn't feel entirely necessary. Not that it was Naomi's fault though.
And her body in the lovemaking clip with Sean Penn... 

I agree she is fantastic as always but Del Toro is also excellent in this movie as well. Great performance

The scene where she is told her daughters were killed in the accident is the first image that pops into my head when thinking about the movie. Stellar acting and such a hard, tough scene.

Benicio Del Toro is great too and Sean Penn is solid, but Naomi Watts is the heart and soul of the movie. She elevates this. Probably her career-best performance and a deserved oscar nomination.
