Zero Effect?

Has anyone else seen the movie Zero Effect? It's my favorite, and it features a character similar to Monk--a brilliant detective who is so phobic he needs an assistant to help manage his affairs. I've read it's supposed to be a modern day Sherlock Holmes. It came out in 1998. They did make a pilot for a TV show, but it didn't get picked up. Anyway, I'm wondering if Monk drew some of its inspiration from Zero Effect. Either way, I recommend the movie. It's not quite Monk, but it is funny and interesting and very clever IMO.
