Pretentious Trash

Even though this is a highly amateur documentary, that isn't the only reason why this doc sucks.

Triumphant music during the Linux 'uprising' and evil music and a picture the malevolent Bill Gates in tuxedo are all sucker punches. Microsoft has done a lot for community that people never discuss such as giving out millions of dollars in free software. Bill gates and his wife have also started the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation which is the largest nonprofit, philanthropic organization in the world that does more to help the world ills than any government on the planet. This is an organization that rivals Rockefeller's philanthropic pursuits and helps secure money from other billionaires like Warren Buffet because people know that it's research and pursuits are so genuine. Microsoft has done a lot to create wealth and jobs and access to information for so many people across the globe and these losers want to poop all over Microsoft.

What do people like those in this documentary say about Apple and Google which do so much more to create even more closed systems than Microsoft, horde and own personal data and sell that data to other private organizations. Microsoft does none of this. In fact, Microsoft gets anti-trust litigation thrown at it from courts from the US and EU while Google and Apple have done so much more to stifle innovation and create monopolies. People need to wake up to the real threats that are out there.

The claim that Microsoft is selling personal data on it's users has nothing to do with the anti-monopoly legislation the EU and the US has thrown at Microsoft. As for Apple and Google "stifling" innovation, AFAIK Google at least has never engaged in any major patent disputes with anyone.

Microsoft ruined my childhood. Every game I bought had to bypass the operating system for example DOS-4W. If your store sold MS-DOS or windows based computers you were not allowed to sell any Apple computers. Microsoft machines blue screened a lot back way more then they do these days. Microsoft didn't give us a premptive kernel untill 1992 7 years after intel processors could support one and home users didn't really get a premptive kernel till WindowsXP(2001) a whole 16 years after it was supported by the processor. The company continuted to break compatibility with venders through its holloween doctrine of "embrace extend extinguish" for any thing usefull on a computer. For example good luck trying to connect to an ActiveDirectory server with anything other then a Microsoft client despite the fact that ActiveDirectory is really just LDAP in wolves clothing. When I graduated from college Microsoft had the IT industry to the point that you coulden't work in an MS shop unless you had an MSCE which required 10 fucking exames and no real way to practive. College graduates don't have thousands of dollars to purchase a win2000 s

ervers. Even learning C sharp and .NET was a pain as you coulden't even connect to an MsSQL server with out an expensive client. While I was already connecting to a MySQL server years eairler. It was insulting being hand cuffed.MicroSoft isn't the bully today as it was back then and most likely as a user you don't remember the bullshit Microsoft pulled. Thanks to software like Apache MySQL Php perhaps even python the IT industry was free to do greate things without the shackles of microsoft. I'm guessing people using the Azure platform are responsible for the recent boost in IIS servers not sure what caused Microsoft to reach 43% penetration. You have fond memories of the internet and Win95 I have horrible memories of microsoft just being a bully in the industry that forced headache standards on the industry that barely worked but their OS dominance allowed them to sneak into the IT workspace were we all suffer. So yea I'm pretty convinced microsoft used to be pretty evil. They would be today they just don't have the mobile market or video game dominance they wish they had like the PC market over a decade or 2 ago.
