Why could normal zombies break through doors but crimson heads could not?

Crimson heads are more powerful than regular ones so it never made sense to me. Was it because the developers figured they were dangerous enough as it is?

I think that might be a reason, yes. They are a big nuisance already as it is, having them break doors and chase you could have been too much. Though that would have been a cool addition to the game when played on higher difficulties.

reply

Yeah, i like the idea of adding it only to the higher difficulties, it would've been a nice extra scare for the player, or it could've been it's own special mode. I imagine how much extra consideration you would have to go through when killing zombies when you know that once they get up again you basically have to kill these things, you can't just be a coward and leave them behind in a room because they arent gonna stay there every time.

reply

Yeah. It would definitely have an impact on the player's strategies. It would have been cool, navigating through the mansion not knowing if there will be a crimson, or two, or three, or none, before entering each room.

Come to think of it a few hunters could also breach doors, they weren't as many but just as dangerous as a crimson, so i feel the crimsons should've deserved the same ability XD

reply

Oh, yes. The hunters. Forgot about those little bastards lol. They are quite annoying on Resident Evil 3. Yeah, it could work like that.

Luckily in remake they aren't too hard to avoid in the mansion once you know where they are after they started spawning, you can usually take ways around them except for a couple times where you have to confront one to get where you need to go. Not so easy in the caves though.

reply

Yeah, at least you don't have to take them head on every time.

This talk of ours reminded me that I interrupted my Chris Redfield walkthrough halfway. Probably gonna die a thousand times now if I get back to it, before I rediscover the threats's locations. lol.

Did you get to play the RE2 demo? Looking beautiful & the gameplay is great.

reply

Haven't tried it yet, but i'm impressed by what i've seen on Youtube.
