Terrible?

I saw this tonight at the St. Louis International film festival, and was excited because the director would be doing a Q&A after the show. However, i ended up leaving right after the credits started.
The premise seemed interesting enough, very cool, actually, but it just turned out terribly. The acting was really atrocious, as well as the "effects" and in general the "stories."
I was waiting for this one to be over 10 minutes after it started. There were a few laughs, but i don't think anything really redeeming.
The worst part were the similarities... to the wanting seed, vanilla sky, blade runner, A. I., etc. Unfortunately, "Robot Stories" shared the greatest likeness with terrible dramatic made-for-tv-movies.
Fortunately I got into this for free, otherwise there would be some real problems.
Did anyone else really just not like this movie at all? I've never walked out of a movie before, but i just felt this was a total waste of time.

this movie was really cool to me. it was different and moving. and for once, asian americans played human roles instead of being stereotypical comic reliefs or whores.

Thoughtful performances.. and great directing.

There is so much Junk out there.. it doesn't take much for a movie of intilectual quality to be "Good".

..sigh..

To bad 31% of the "Fox News" American demographic is into crap. Come on.. Watching NASCAR drivers go around in a circle all day? Donny Knoxville is the new Laurence Olivier? Please!

The director of "Robot Stories" needs to write and direct. HEAR ME!! GIVE THIS GUY A JOB!

I saw this a few years ago. I liked it then and I like it now upon rewatching. Especailly Robot Fixer, the one where the mother repairs the toys of her comatose son as a last ditch way of connecting with him. Wai Ching Ho was especially affecting as the mother Bernice. The rest are fair, but I don't care for Clay, and stop watching as soon as that one comes on.

As for the Asain-Americaness for the film, I don't take that into consideration when scoring the movie. There are a darth of Asian roles in cinema due to film-makers forgeting to even place the token Asian in their films and shows, so it's noble for some people like Greg to try and even things out, not that expect the same from ever Asain film-maker.

I am a movie buff, and watch a ton of them. I've seen good, bad and ugly films.

I just saw this tonight. Sure it was "indie", but I thought it was very well done. I enjoyed it very much. I think stories can be simple and heartfelt and still be well done. I thought the acting was great, the stories well-written, direction was fine, and most of all, the message had heart and a point.

Gone are the days when I get too down on ideas being similar. Nothing is original anymore. I look at the way they are produced and presented.

The effects were find for a low-budget film. I didn't expect million dollar CGI in an indie film.

I didn't judge it BECAUSE it had asian actors, but it was sure refreshing to SEE asian actors. I watch a ton of foreign film and I think that American film could do with more diversity without stereotypes.

Perhaps this film isn't for everyone, but I thought it was a little gem.

You left RIGHT AFTER THE CREDITS???

How can you objectively judge this film then?
