brittany murphy's character

alex seemed kind of pointless. she didn't add that much to the plot. and her and rabbit didn't even end up together in the end anyways...so what was the point of her character in the first place? i really didn't like her.

The character was there to play the token dirty slut who had more pricks than a second-hand dart board. Nothing more, nothing less.

Her Character was meant to be a catalyst to encourage him to dream beyond the reality of his life at the time.

I read someone post that she was cast to make him dream. After reading that, I think yes, that's why....Eminem is smoking hot IMO & he was uglied down in this movie--too skinny, dark circles under his eyes, etc and Alex was supposed to be a "hot chick" for a love interest to him....normally with his appearance he'd never have someone like here EVEN THOUGH I THOUGHT SHE LOOKED DISGUSTING in the movie...Think about it, they are all poor looking for something to gain... She was nothing but a rebound love affair after Jeanene.

Making him dream of what? Being cheated on by a cock-hungry slut?

She represented Kim.

Her character was annoying and a whore.

Snakes. Why'd it have to be snakes?

reply

The point, aside from being a love interest, was to show him what he DIDN'T want to be, just another delusional industry "ho" that will never make it and be used. If it wasn't for her, he would've gone with Wink and just been played and never really make it. It was like she was the low road and he was the high road.

"Dwight, you ignorant slut!"

reply

She was needed as a deus ex machina. Still though, she looked like a total skank.

reply

She added plenty...she banged Wink, motivating Rabbit to kick his ass, therefore intensifing the beef with New World Order, thus giving him the motivation to get of his ass and rap like he always could.

I agree. I think that they should have used a different actress as well as developed the character a bit more. The movie is great, but her story line doesn't add much to it. The writing should have made the audience care more about her and her relationship to B Rabbit (when I say care, I don't necessarily mean like- they could have made us hate her more)and the character would have made more sense.
