brittany murphy's character

alex seemed kind of pointless. she didn't add that much to the plot. and her and rabbit didn't even end up together in the end anyways...so what was the point of her character in the first place? i really didn't like her.

reply

yeah, but she was hot

reply

she played the love interest. in movie business a movie without a love interest lose his audience attention and very few movies with no love interest can be successful in the box office. when you pay attention to movies most of them have a love interest in a way or another.

reply

Yeah it is a must (so the chicks would go see it with the guys, vice versa) in movie land.
Yeah she is hot.

And she is a source of drama and motivation.
Pointless.....not quite.

Why can't these internet folk differentiate between "then" and "than"?

She looked so dirty and smelly in this film. Just so very unwashed.
Not hot.

reply

I thought the sex scene was pretty awful and not hot at all. To each their own I guess....

Brittany Murphey, for me, is a hit-and-miss actress. I loved her in Sin City. Hate her in Just Married (which is awful anyway). Loved her in Drop Dead Gorgeous. Hate her in 8 Mile! The I've-been-through-so-much-and-I'm-an-aimless-flirt look she has plastered on her face during this movie drives me crazy and she uses that terrible fake-innocence voice through out her scenes. I think, given the same dialogue and plot, a different actress could have made this role more meaningful.

reply

I just came here to post the same thing! It seems as though she's only there so that she can sleep with Wink, so it can be thrown in his face at the battle rap, so that Rabbit can flip it and turn it back on them. Plus are we really to believe this vaguely pretty, average weight (by model standards, at least), 5'3" girl has serious aspirations as a model?

It would have made more sense to develop the story with him & his ex.

reply

I love Brittany Murhpy in other movies, but I hated her in this as well. Not only that she looked like a drug addict in this movie. I'm surprised some people thought she was hot.

reply

I assumed by modelling they meant like glamour modelling, it all sounded a bit seedy...realistically, skeazy looking 5"3 girls do not cat-walk models make!

reply

She may have indeed meant glamour modeling.

Or, she could have been delusional. I think the point was more that modeling was what she WANTED to do, not necessarily that she had a realistic chance.

She seemed pretty low level, so she would believe a guy like Wink could actually help her.

Lots of girls, who have no shot, dream of being models. They are easy prey for guys who want to take advantage of them. A girl like Alex won't know the difference between someone who can help her and someone who can't. Any guy with a business card that said 'agent' would probably be able to sleep with her.

reply

maybe she was hoping to be a glamour model rather than a catwalk model

reply

Glamor models don't tend to look so skanky.

reply

Her point was to take part in one of the best sex scenes I have ever seen in a movie.

Agreed. That was hot to watch!

FU** TWILIGHT!

reply

I agree.

Well executed sex scene.

reply

I think you should watch films. It was anything but one of the best sex scenes in a film.

I think Murphy was a good actress, but not in this film.

Clark's destiny = Superman, Lex Luthor & Lois Lane.

reply

I think maybe their point was that it was the most realistic sex scene they've seen. Which I agree. It's not the way general movies make it lol. 8 Mile had it spot on.

reply

lol, does anyone here know what glamour photography is? Glamour models are the bombshell types. Big bust, small waist, large hips, tan, messy hair... usually it's a sexually charged photograph. Runway models are usually the ones that look like pale, waif, "Heroin chic" girls... the photograph is usually "artistic".

She looked more like a runway model in this movie.

reply

to me she didnt really look like either, she was too small height-wise to be a runway model.

reply

Why?

Probably so that BRabbit would have a reason to beat the hell out of Wink, catching a beating in return, and another thing to be used against him at the battle.

Also, it shows that Wink genuinely doesn't give a rat's arse about Rabbit, that he's happy to bump uglies with his girlfriend.

Plus it's another thing for BRabbit to be pissed off about.

reply

yeh she totally ruined the movie for me

reply

The guys in the movie are always going on about how they want to 'get all the fine bitchez', she is just an example of the type of girl they are talking about. She is the trophy all those broke, hungry thugs aspire to have one day.

reply

Her point was to take part in one of the best sex scenes I have ever seen in a movie.

reply

She was the worst! There was NOTHING redeeming about her character at all. I acutally didn't even like Murphy in the part. She seemed miscast.

reply

Well, good news, she definately wont be in the sequel, if they should ever do one... :-þ
